Description
A tribute to Porsche's iconic 550 Spyder of the 1950s, this 1990 Beck 550 Spyder is a reproduction powered by an air-cooled Porsche flat-four. Finished in silver over a hand-formed aluminum interior replicating the original 550 race car, it is fitted with a 1969 Porsche 912 engine with Solex carburetors and MSD ignition, paired with a 4-speed manual transaxle. The build incorporates extensive Fiber Steel components, a CSP front disc brake conversion, and hand-formed aluminum body panels. Number 0049B, delivered new in Mexico and imported to the US in 2019, this Beck Spyder is now being offered for auction in Utah.
Modeled on the Porsche 550A Spyder, this Beck reproduction wears fresh two-stage PPG silver paint and features reproduction 550 Spyder exterior lights, a hand-made rear panel vent, and a single-seat windscreen. A hand-formed aluminum tonneau covers the passenger seat, and the car rides on Michelin XZX tires dated to 2011. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.
The interior features hand-formed aluminum panels replicating the original 550 race car, a three-gauge cluster with a Fiber Steel backing plate, a Banjo steering wheel, and a Fiber Steel shifter and pedal cluster.
