1990 Bentley Continental Drophead Coupe

West Coast Classics are proud to present this 1990 Bentley Continental Mulliner Park Ward coach built Drophead Coupe convertible classic, one of a claimed 180 examples produced between 1990 and 1991, and finished in the very rare and desirable original ‘Mason’s Black’ color paint paired with a Tan Connolly leather hides interior and matching sheepskin rugs, and heavily accented by hand-polished Burl Walnut veneers across the dashboard and center console.1990–1991 Series: A total of 180 units were produced. This specific iteration was technically identical to the Rolls-Royce Corniche III and featured updates such as a catalyst engine, an upgraded in-car entertainment system, automatic height control, and a revised dashboard.Full Generation Total (1984–1994):Across the entire lifespan of this original SZ-platform Bentley Continental convertible generation, only 421 units were built, making it exceptionally rare compared to its Rolls-Royce counterpart.Extremely Low Visual Matching:Out of the mere 180 total units built for the 1990–1991 Series III update, the vast majority were finished in traditional British Racing Green, Acrylic White, Royal Blue, or various metallic silver/gray tones.Estimated Rarity:Safe historical estimates dictate that fewer than 20 to 25 units were likely ordered globally in this exact Black-on-Tan configuration for the 1990 model year, making this chassis extraordinarily rare.Power comes from a 6.75-liter V8 paired with a three-speed automatic transmission. Equipment includes a self-leveling independent suspension and 15″ aluminum alloy wheels along with a power-operated beige convertible top, burl wood interior trim, split-level climate control, and heated and power-adjustable front seats with memory settings. Bentley revived the Continental nameplate after a 19-year absence in 1984. Based on the contemporary Corniche of then-parent company Rolls-Royce, the car received interior and emission system revisions shared with the Corniche III for 1990. The Continental featured a body-color grille insert, bumper covers, and mirror caps along with bright wheel arch trim and fog lights and reverse lamps that surround the rear license plate holder. The Mulliner Park Ward–built bodywork on this example is finished in Masons Black with Gold pinstriping. The Tan convertible top is stowed under a tan top boot. The Continental featured a four-wheel independent suspension with coil springs and a hydraulic self-leveling system, along with power-assisted four-wheel disc brakes. The heated and power-adjustable front seats and rear bench are upholstered in Tan Connolly leather, and matching trim extends to the dash as well as the center console and door panels.
