Description
KEY FACTS This VN-era Holden HSV Commodore SS Group A is a highly collectible and potent modern classic homologation special. It is powered by a 5.0-litre naturally aspirated V8, driving the rear wheels via a six-speed manual transmission. This original Australian-market model passed compliance in November 1990. The odometer indicates 50,767 km, though this is not warranted. This VN-era Commodore SS Group A is one of only 302 examples ever produced Build year: 1990 EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES Built to homologate the Holden Commodore for Group A touring car racing, the Holden HSV Commodore VN SS Group A featured an extensively modified version of Holden’s 5.0-litre V8 engine to produce 215 kW and 411Nm of torque, which it sent to the rear wheels through a six-speed ZF S6-40 manual transmission, as used in the Chevrolet Corvette ZR-1. Upgrades were also made to the suspension, tyres, and brakes. Although a total production of 500 cars was originally planned for racing homologation reasons, only 302 examples were ultimately produced, in non-sequential order. This VN-era Commodore SS Group A is finished in the model-specific shade of Durif Red, over a grey velour cloth-trimmed interior, featuring red patterned inserts on the seats and door cards. It rides on a set of 17-inch Group A alloy wheels fitted with Falken Ziex tyres, Equipment includes a four-spoke Momo steering wheel, a top-tinted windscreen, electric windows, automatic climate control, a cassette stereo, and electrically adjustable door mirrors. Accompanied by the owner's manuals in a red Metro Holden-branded wallet, the stamped service booklet, some maintenance invoices, and two keys.
