1991 Alfa Romeo Spider Convertible

Vehicle Description 1991 Alfa Romeo Spider $15,500 Zoom Classic Cars proudly presents this 1991 Alfa Romeo Spider Base Model, a beautifully maintained example of one of Italy\'s most iconic open-air sports cars. Finished in classic Alfa Red over a well preserved beige interior with suede inserts, this well-cared-for Spider offers timeless Italian styling, spirited performance, and an engaging driving experience that continues to make these cars favorites among enthusiasts. By 1991, the Alfa Romeo Spider had evolved through more than two decades of production while retaining the unmistakable Pininfarina-designed silhouette first introduced in the 1960s. For the 1991 model year, Alfa updated the Spider with body-colored composite bumpers, a redesigned rear fascia, and revised taillights, giving the car a cleaner, more modern appearance while preserving the classic lines that made the Spider famous. This example is the Base Model Spider, which is often overlooked in favor of the Veloce. In reality, the two models are mechanically almost identical, sharing the same 2.0-liter twin-cam engine, Bosch fuel injection, five-speed manual transmission, rear-wheel-drive layout, and driving dynamics. The Veloce package primarily added cosmetic and convenience upgrades such as larger tires, different alloy wheels, and a few additional trim features, while the Base Model delivers the same authentic Alfa Romeo driving experience with a slightly simpler specification and lighter curb weight.Power comes from the aforementioned Alfa Romeo\'s legendary 2.0-liter DOHC Twin-Cam inline four-cylinder engine equipped with Bosch fuel injection and paired with the desirable 5-speed manual transmission. The engine starts easily, pulls strongly throughout the rev range, and delivers the distinctive exhaust note and free-revving character that have made Alfa twin-cam engines legendary among sports car enthusiasts. The current owner, an experienced mechanic, has meticulously maintained the car since purchasing it from Accel Auto of Waltham, Massachusetts, a highly respected foreign car specialist well known for its Alfa Romeo expertise. To further improve the already balanced handling, the owner installed Koni shock absorbers, providing a noticeably smoother ride while maintaining the precise steering and confident cornering for which these cars are known. The Spider runs, drives, shifts smoothly, and handles very well. Finished in striking Alfa Red, the exterior presents beautifully with only a few very minor imperfections as shown and features a manual black convertible top, which remains in excellent condition and opens and closes effortlessly. A matching tan top boot is also included and is in equally excellent condition, providing a clean, finished appearance when the top is lowered. Additional exterior features include halogen headlights, body-colored composite bumpers, revised rear lighting, and a single polished exhaust outlet. The Spider rides on silver-finished 14-inch Cromodora-style alloy wheels wrapped in older 195/70 Michelin Energy MXV4 tires. A full-size spare wheel with Michelin tire remains properly stored in the trunk. Inside, the beige interior with suede seat inserts remains inviting and in very good condition with some wear and loose seat piping as shown on the driver\'s seat. Features include:* Power windows,* Power side mirrors,* Leather-wrapped airbag steering wheel with Alfa Romeo crest,* Jaeger instrumentation including a 140 MPH speedometer, tachometer with 6,300 RPM redline, and auxiliary gauges* Analog clock that works, and * Factory AM/FM cassette stereo. The mechanical odometer currently reads 64,739 miles. A mileage inconsistency was reported by the previous owner and therefore the true mileage is unknown. The undercarriage displays only the typical light surface rust commonly found on well-preserved Northeast cars of this vintage, with no unusual concerns noted. Frame appears to be very solid. With Alfa Romeo no longer offering the Spider in the United States after 1994, clean, well-maintained Series 4 examples have become increasingly sought after. Their combination of timeless Pininfarina styling, legendary twin-cam performance, engaging five-speed manual transmission, and open-top motoring continues to attract collectors and enthusiasts looking for an affordable and rewarding vintage Italian sports car. If you\'ve been searching for a well-sorted, meticulously maintained Alfa Romeo Spider that\'s turn-key and ready to enjoy immediately, this attractive 1991 Base Model deserves your serious consideration.
