Description
Introduced for the 1992 model year as the successor to the 944 S2, the Porsche 968 represented the final evolution of the company’s front-engine, four-cylinder transaxle sports cars and was offered in both Coupe and Cabriolet form. This 1992 Porsche 968 Cabriolet is a Japanese-market example finished in Guards Red over a Linen leather interior and pairs its naturally aspirated 3.0-liter inline-four with a 4-speed Tiptronic automatic transmission. Imported to the United States from Japan in October 2025, this RoW-spec 968 Cabriolet is now being offered for auction with approximately 91k kilometers (~56k miles) showing on the odometer.
The 968 Cabriolet is distinguished by its unique production process, with coupe bodies taken from Porsche’s assembly line and converted into Cabriolets by American Sunroof Corporation (ASC) in Germany before returning to Porsche for final assembly. This example has been refinished in its original Guards Red color and rides on 17” Cup-style wheels accompanied by red-painted brake calipers. Additional equipment includes a power-operated black convertible top, pop-up headlights, integrated fog lights, RoW-spec side marker lights, power-adjustable mirrors, and aftermarket chrome fender accents. The front wheels are mounted with Pirelli tires carrying 2015 date codes, while the rear Firestone tires date to 2000. According to the seller, the refinished exterior exhibits an orange peel effect in the paint. Detailed images of the exterior condition are provided in the gallery.
