1995 Audi RS2

When Audi introduced the RS2 Avant in 1994, it marked the birth of a lineage that would come to define the brand’s performance identity. Developed in close collaboration with Porsche and hand-assembled at the Rössle-Bau plant in Zuffenhausen, the RS2 was more than just a high-performance variant of the B4-generation 80 Avant. It was Audi’s first true RS car—an unfiltered statement of intent that combined everyday practicality with motorsport-derived engineering in a way that had never been seen before. At its core was a 2.2-liter turbocharged inline-five, fitted with a larger KKK turbocharger, revised camshafts, higher-flow fuel injectors, and a freer-breathing exhaust. Power output was rated at 311 horsepower, sent through a six-speed manual gearbox to Audi’s legendary quattro all-wheel-drive system. Performance was startling for the era: 0–60 mph in under 5 seconds, quicker even than many contemporary supercars. The RS2’s chassis and hardware bore Porsche’s unmistakable fingerprints. Brakes sourced directly from the 964-generation 911 provided immense stopping power, while 17-inch Porsche “Cup” wheels wrapped in performance rubber filled out the widened arches. The suspension was tuned with Porsche-developed springs, dampers, and anti-roll bars, and even the side mirrors were lifted from the 911 Turbo. These details, subtle but significant, made the RS2 as much a Porsche in spirit as it was an Audi in execution.Today, the RS2 Avant is recognized as one of the definitive performance icons of the 1990s, revered both for its historical significance as the first RS car and for its intoxicating blend of pace, usability, and character. With only 2,891 examples built worldwide, demand has consistently exceeded supply, particularly for low-mileage, well-preserved cars. This 1995 RS2 Avant is an especially desirable example, finished in grey over black leather and showing just 56,000 miles from new. Its restrained specification emphasizes the model’s dual character: understated and practical on the surface, but with unmistakable Porsche-bred performance beneath. Benefiting from a life of careful use and preservation, it represents a rare opportunity to acquire one of the most important cars in Audi’s modern history.A landmark of the high-performance estate car genre, the RS2 Avant remains one of the most collectible and significant models in the Audi pantheon. This low-mileage, Porsche-touched example is a standout representation of the car that started it all.
