If your mechanic is unable to provide any documentation to support his claim... you might consider finding a new mechanic.October 21st, 2024 at 8:52pm ESTRSDecker (0) 0@gsxr my MB master mechanic with 45 years in the game informed me of this, yeah next time I'm by there I will get a pic of the page in the manual. October 21st, 2024 at 8:05pm ESTgsxr (105) 1@RSDecker, can you post a link or other info showing the Mercedes shop manual (or, ANY manual) mentioning a change interval for the timing chain? I've never seen this in over 25 years of owning OM60x engines. @duwinston - glad some of my posts have been helpful! Keep an eye out for a 500E, they really are divine - at least, when properly sorted. :)October 21st, 2024 at 7:20pm ESTRSDecker (0) 0@gsxr although I agree with you as I had an OM616 550k with og timing chain, ran like a top, the MB shop manual says other wise.October 21st, 2024 at 5:32pm ESTduwinston (5) Seller 1@gsxr Thank you. I have always wanted a 500E. And I have have read hundreds of your comments. This e300 project was the flip of a 500e: a Sheep in wolf's clothing. And it was cheaper. I am old and don't drive fast, so it made sense in theory. Anyway, I appreciate your 500E knowledge.October 21st, 2024 at 5:21pm ESTgsxr (105) 0@RSDecker, the timing chains on OM60x diesel engines do not need periodic replacement. At 100kmi they are just broken in. October 21st, 2024 at 4:50pm EST$4,200 bid placed by @Ecar7October 21st, 2024 at 1:36pm ESTduwinston (5) Seller 0@RSDecker I don't see a receipt for timing chain, as it may have done before the previous owner. I only have my receipts and previous ownership receipts. In 2010, the previous owner invited $1,800 in repair. They noted the original wiring harness and "remove the lower engine panel to reduce the heath for the wiring harness).. Then in 2013, the 120,000 mile N3 Major service was performed at a cost of $1,200October 21st, 2024 at 1:24pm ESTduwinston (5) Seller 1Please note that the transmission was rebuilt in 2014at 127,000 miles by Stephen Service Center in Sacramento for a cost of $2890. Shifting is smooth.October 21st, 2024 at 1:23pm ESTduwinston (5) Seller 0@RSDecker Also the water pump was replaced again in 2021, as well as belts tensioner lever for a total of $760 by prior owner.October 21st, 2024 at 1:07pm ESTduwinston (5) Seller 0@RSDecker According to receipt from prior owner, the water pump and water pump housing were replaced in 2019. Checking on timing chain.October 21st, 2024 at 9:19am ESTRSDecker (0) 0Was the timing chain replaced at the 100k miles mark? Do you know if it is still the original plastic water pump impeller in use? Thank youOctober 21st, 2024 at 9:12am EST$3,950 bid placed by @RSDeckerOctober 20th, 2024 at 8:08pm EST$3,000 bid placed by @syria56October 18th, 2024 at 8:45pm EST$2,750 bid placed by @SalonemanOctober 18th, 2024 at 5:27pm ESTduwinston (5) Seller 0@RSDecker I don't have original rims. They had chrome on them . And the chrome was a mess. So to de chrome them and then refinish them did not make financial sense. The wiring harness is an interesting question. Mercedes bio degradable wiring harness was a big issue for their gas cars. But for diesel it is minor. I am not sure if has or has not. The car runs well and I have not had electrical issues. I have had engine tune up, but I don't think that they replaced glow plugs. I have tons of receipts from prior owner that I haven't studied.October 18th, 2024 at 5:22pm ESTduwinston (5) Seller 0@gershom There is a low reserve sale price. The windows work but the sunroof has closed to prevent leaks. There were leaks that I addressed: the sunroof and the exhaust fumes in the car. Currently there are no fluids on garage floor or fluids that need refilling early. So there are no leaks that I know about. that said, the car is 175,000 miles old and is sold as is . I encourage inspections before you bid.October 18th, 2024 at 10:20am ESTRSDecker (0) 0Have the glow plugs been replaced at any point? Is the original bio degradable wiring harness still in use? Do you have the original rims? Thank you!October 18th, 2024 at 2:08am ESTgershom (0) 0Is this a Live Bid or it has a Seller Reserve price? Also does all of your windows work? And is there any current leaks?October 16th, 2024 at 8:11pm ESTduwinston (5) Seller 0Thank you. I have clearly watched too many episodes of YouTube Hoovies Garage. That said, it has been fun purchasing this car, driving it, working with the mechanic at Pacific Motors in Santa Monica to figure out repairs and seeing them resolved. There is more work to do. But I moved it along.October 16th, 2024 at 5:31pm ESTaffordableluxury (11) 0Beautiful car, good luck.October 14th, 2024 at 8:52pm EST$2,500 bid placed by @mackiewiczOctober 14th, 2024 at 1:19pm ESTthembmarket (691) 0Two photos of the headliner of the seller's other car have been removed from the gallery. October 14th, 2024 at 1:19pm ESTduwinston (5) Seller 0Sorry for the confusion. I had 4 black color code 040 Mercedes from the 90s. The photos 79 and 80 should be disregarded. They are from one of my S Class w140. I have requested that they be removed. No one had bid yet so there are no bides to be cancelled. Sorry for the confusion. I am not a flipper. It was more of a David Lee type hobby. A flipper would have made difference choices and perhaps made money. I did have fun though repairing and restoring the four cars.October 14th, 2024 at 12:59pm ESTmercedesonly (1) 0Two different headliners on two very different Mercedes. Good eye. Sounds like a flipper. However, half the cars on here sound like they are being flipped.October 14th, 2024 at 12:43pm ESTGoBoGo (102) 0Confusing photos of the headliner--the light gray with the sagging seems to be this car; the later photo that looks like dark gray alcantara seems like a much newer vehicle (maybe an S class?) Regardless of that, this
