1997 Chevrolet Corvette Base

The C5 has always represented an important turning point for the Corvette, and this 1997 is a great example of why these cars are becoming increasingly appreciated.

As the first year of the C5 generation, the 1997 Corvette introduced the LS1 V8, rear-mounted transaxle, and an entirely new chassis that transformed the Corvette into a genuinely modern sports car. More than 25 years later, they remain fast, comfortable, reliable, and remarkably usable.

I acquired this Arctic White coupe because I liked the combination of its relatively low mileage, clean appearance, and first-year significance. Rather than simply cleaning it up and putting it back on the market, I spent time addressing the mechanical items that needed attention.

It has received new spark plugs and ignition coils, a new alternator and belts, new brake pads and rotors, fluid service, and attention to the HVAC blend-door system. The result is a well-sorted Corvette that is ready to be driven rather than a car that has simply been sitting as a collectible.
