Description
Stock #7188 Value is often subjective, but this J95 Prado seems to make everyone happy who gets behind the wheel. Exterior Overview Value is often subjective, but this J95 Prado seems to make everyone happy who gets behind the wheel. Off-road enthusiasts love the body-on-frame construction and center-locked 4WD underpinnings. Commuters love the refinement and ease of service, and families love the space and numerous safety features that come standard on these excellent rigs. This 1998 is fresh off a comprehensive service and is offered with a mere 119k verified and documented miles on the clock. Finished in Desert Tan (4J9), this TX is set off by an OEM bashbar, 16×8 aftermarket wheels, and a set of OEM rainguards. Aside from some minor imperfections, the body is in good shape, and this eight-seater is turnkey ready to rock. A Japanese Classic that appeals to nearly everyone, this reliable, practical, handsome, and tough Toyota can be yours today. Interior Overview The cabin is in great shape and filled with premium materials. The dashboard lacks any cracking or fading, and dual SRS airbags are standard equipment. Pilots of all sizes benefit from a tilt-adjustable steering column to find the ideal driving position. Power folding mirrors, power locks, and power windows all work in typical Toyota fashion, making daily use more enjoyable. The center stack is close by and within arm’s reach. The OEM audio works like a charm, as does the automatic climate control system. If you prefer more natural ventilation, the rear quarter glass pops outward, and a large factory moonroof can tilt and retract to supplement airflow. For those who plan to chart unknown territories, a dash-mounted OEM field monitor will keep you abreast of the outside conditions. The seats are comfortable and trimmed in a blue and gray cloth. They are in above-average nick, and lack any major rips, stains, or tears. The middle row can split fold, recline, and tumble forward to create a large cargo hold. The rear jump seats can be easily removed or stowed tidily against the D-pillar. The headliner, door cards, and carpets are in good shape, and even a spare key is included with the purchase. Overall, the cockpit is impressive, even for a vehicle much newer than this Landy. Mechanical Overview The frame is nearly identical to our domestic 3rd generation 4Runner, so mods, maintenance, and repair items are easy to find and affordable. This engine was also sold here in the US, the 3RZ-FE. Fresh off an oil and filter service, the 2.7L whirrs to life courtesy of a new 12v battery. We chucked in a set of new accessory belts so that ignition would be squeal-free and the electronics would stay properly powered. A new engine air filter and set of spark plugs work to maximize fuel economy and power, and the four-banger feels strong as an ox. So that the oil level would stay full, one of our trained techs replaced the valve cover gasket with a new one. The 3RZ is linked to a smooth shifting automatic gearbox. New shifter bushings allow the driver to slot it precisely into gear, and a transmission fluid service was performed while it was on the lift. We also performed fluid exchanges on the front and rear differentials to bolster the driveline. It feeds torque through a full-time 4WD system. With the aforementioned center locker and a low range gearset, this truck has no issues keeping momentum moving, even when the road surfaces are less than ideal. The long wheelbase and soft suspension are great for those logging tons of miles, and new front lower control arms were installed so that this Cruiser could pass its VA safety inspection. The power steering light yet on point, and it tracks straight as an arrow courtesy of a fresh alignment and new steering rack bushings. Four-wheel disc brakes are standard, as is ABS, and this terrific Toyota slows down with confidence. Lastly, we mounted and balanced four new 31″ Falken tires. The new rubber quells road noise, looks mean, and will provide all the grip required for tens of thousands of miles to come. *California Residents: In order to register a Grey Market vehicle in the state of California then it will have to be made CARB compliant first.
