description General Information The offering:We are pleased to offer a 1999 Ferrari 456M GT 6-speed, s/n 112883, a two-owner Ferrari with only 14,337 miles, finished in an elegant Argento Nurburgring 101/C with Bordeaux leather. This very clean USA Model 456M GT 6-speed was sold new on 08 August, 1998 from Algar Ferrari, Rosemont, PA, by sales manager Rick DiSimone to a client in Uwchland, Pennsylvania. In 2002, 456M GT s/n 112883 went to Karam Automotive, West Chester, PA, with only 210 miles, before going to Ferrari of New England, West Newton, MA, and then to its second owner, Richard “Dick” Shaughnessy on 11 June, 2005, with only 320 miles. All service work from new was done by John Tirrell, Independent Ferrari Service, South Eaton, MA. In late 2023, 456M GT s/n 112883 went to John Tirrell, Independent Ferrari Service, for an absolutely-no-expenses-spared service. Today 456M GT s/n 112883 has only 14,337 well documented miles and comes with the full set of seven original books in their pouch, complete with the warranty card showing the first buyer and the original (not a copy) window sticker of $224,800.00. Also comes with the full set of Factory tools in their leather carrying case plus a spare key with two spare remotes, the trouble light, the spare-in-a-can, and a factory red car cover. Unlike the earlier 456 GTs, 456M GT s/n 125562 has great side window fit and both door windows operate flawlessly. We have service invoices on file back to the first owner plus lots of photos and invoices that document the no-expenses-spared service work. Clean Carfax, of course.Model History:As the first of today’s Montezemolo-era cars, the original 456 GT was first introduced at the F40 Ferrari celebrations in Belgium in Sept. 1992. Billed as the spiritual replacement for the Daytona, the 456 GT was better described as the heir to the 365 GTC/4, combining the looks and performance of a two-seat berlinetta with comfort and occasional seating for four. Based on a traditional steel tube frame, but with an alloy body, the 456 GT received an electronically adjustable suspension with three user-selected settings, as well as speed-sensitive power steering. An all-new 5,474cc 65° V12 featured dry-sump lubrication put out 442 hp thanks to Bosch Motronic engine management. The 456 GT sprinted to 60 mph in just 5.3 seconds, through the quarter mile in 13.4 seconds at 107.5 mph and on to a top speed of 186 mph, making the 456 GT the then-fastest 4-seat production car on the planet. The 456 GT also features Ferrari’s first road-going active aerodynamic device: a small spoiler that deployed from underneath the rear bumper. In a dramatic change from the over-styled and “busy” lines of the then-contemporary Testarossa and 348, Pininfarina designed and built the very clean and uncluttered 456 GT body. The cockpit’s focus was on luxury, with full Connolly leather, fully adjustable seats and easy-to-read gauges. Air-conditioning and heating were up to real-world standards and the comfortable and quiet cockpit made long journeys easy – at least for front-seat occupants. The interior’s refinement carried over to the driving experience. The V12’s output was seamless, ride quality was excellent, and the steering and clutch were light. In 1998, the updated 456M (for Modificata) was introduced. The M received a light face-lift—the most noticeable changes were the deletion of hood vents in the now-carbon-fiber hood, with the fog lights set in the grille rather than the bumper—and a much more modern-feeling interior. Anti-dive was incorporated in the front suspension, and the larger 330 mm brake discs from the 550 Maranello were fitted at the front. While no more powerful on paper than the original 456 GT, the M felt faster in the real world. It was also more refined and better handling than its predecessor, thanks to the introduction of traction control and revised shock absorbers. One Very Long Term Owner:After Richard “Dick” Shaughnessy purchased 456M GT s/n 112883 in June of 2005, with only 320 miles, all service work was done by John Tirrell, Independent Ferrari Service. In June 2005, the engine and transmission oil were changed, and the coolant was flushed at a cost of $1,215.89 at 3,363 miles. In June of 2006, another oil service was performed, and the coolant hoses were replaced at a cost of $2,033.93 at 5,387 miles. Only two months later, in August of 2006, a new battery was installed, and the ride height was adjusted at a cost of $724.38 at 5,722 miles. In Dec., 2008, the check engine light was on, and the computer was reset at a cost of $1,321.60 at 10,539 miles. In April 2009, the owner supplied four new tires, which were replaced at a cost of $335.00 at 10,601 miles. In June of 2017, a major cam-belt service and fluid flush and change was done at a cost of $8,248.38 at 10,916 miles. We have all invoices on file.An Absolutely-No-Expenses-Spared Service:In Nov., 2022, at 13,778 miles, a compression check confirmed that the exhaust valve guides had excessive wear, as the 456M shared the same basic valve guide as the early 355s, and so the engine came out, and the heads came off for twelve new exhaust valves, twelve new intake valves, twenty-four new valve guides and twenty-four new valve adjuster shims. The valve spring tension was checked, and new head gaskets, intake manifold and exhaust manifold gaskets were installed. The camshaft journals were line bored, and the camshaft seal surface was polished. The oil pan was removed, and the oil pickup was checked and cleaned. The front and rear seals were replaced. During assembly, a new front timing case gasket, new cam seals, new cam belts, new cam belt tensioners, and all new coolant hoses were installed. Twelve new spark plugs were installed, and the fuel injectors were sublet and flow-tested by Marren Fuel Injection before re-assembly. The clutch was inspected, the water pump was resealed, and a new thermostat was installed. A new alternator and a new battery were
