Description
Stock #6403 Receiving a coveted grade 4.5 from auction in Japan, this recently serviced, turn-key Japanese Classic is ready to drive, show, and enjoy no matter where you go! Exterior Overview Like many other things, the modern sports sedan has become unnecessarily complicated. Expensive, technology-driven, and cumbersome, we believe Toyota perfected the formula some 29 odd years ago with the second generation Aristo. Twin-turbocharged, yet durable and luxurious, these saloons seem to get most everything right, and this 1999 is a swell example. Finished in Diamond White Pearl (051), this Vertex Edition is set off by a subtle FRP front lip, a factory rear spoiler, OEM rainguards, an optional moonroof deflector, and 19″ TOM’s alloy wheels. TOM’s coilover suspension snugs up the gap between tire and fender slightly, and this magnificent sedan boasts just 63k verified and documented miles. Receiving a coveted grade 4.5 from auction in Japan, this recently serviced, turn-key Japanese Classic is ready to drive, show, and enjoy no matter where you go! Interior Overview The interior of this Vertex Edition is fashioned in an optional two-tone sport cloth, which holds up a lot better than the tattered and torn leather examples found stateside. We try not to say this with bias, but when you look at the rip, stain, and tear-free upholstery, it starts to make sense. The dash cover is ergonomic in design and fashioned in premium materials too. The center stack features a responsive factory touchscreen which integrates controls for optional JBL audio, and automatic climate control. If you choose to forgo supplying the cabin with cold A/C or hot heat, a full suite of automatic power windows are available, and a power moonroof can unfurl with ease if needed. Power locks and electric folding side mirrors are also on hand, and the driver can get comfortable behind the wheel with power seating, and an electric tilt and telescoping steering column. For a bit of an easter egg, you can also unfurl all the windows and moonroof by holding the key in the unlock position! The rear seat is delightfully spacious, and the remaining interior materials are in good shape, from the headliner to the carpet below. Overall, this is one of the nicer cabins we’ve seen in recent memory, and a jazzy TRD shift knob is the icing on the cake of this cherry cockpit. Mechanical Overview If you’re a performance enthusiast, you likely skipped right to this paragraph, as this Aristo’s powerplant was also shared with the Supra Mk4. The 2JZ-GTE is fresh off a recent service, including some beneficial preventative maintenance, as this Aristo was employee-owned here at the dealership. The 3.0TT cranks right over, and is fresh off an oil and filter service. To keep the lubricant internal, we installed new valve cover gaskets. New hood struts were installed to make wrenching an easy affair, and we capped things off by installing a new radiator and flushing the coolant. A SARD high-flow cat and Fujitsubo 3″ exhaust help free up a few more ponies from the stable, and this twin-turbo terror rockets up to and above highway speeds with ease. A smooth shifting automatic puts the power down to the rear wheels, and we installed new front wheel bearings to shore up the drivetrain. The Tom’s Advox coilovers ride comfortably and predictably, although we wanted to note the top hat bushings are a bit noisy when outside temperatures plummet. Still, the suspension is safe, and we’ve installed new rear upper control arms to keep things compliant. A Tom’s front strut tower brace and Cusco swaybars also increase chassis rigidity and reduce body roll. The power steering is feels tight, thanks to new rack bushings up front and new rear ARS arm ends. We also replaced the rear inner ARS arm to keep the system working predictably. The ABS brakes benefit from new brake pads and rotors all the way around, and the Yokohama Advan tires are in good shape overall. Fresh off a four wheel alignment, this JZS161 tracks straight, feels quick, and will be a fun-filled daily driver for an eager new owner! *California Residents: In order to register a Grey Market vehicle in the state of California then it will have to be made CARB compliant first. CARB certifications will have to be performed within the state. Depending on the vehicle and any existing modifications will affect the pricing. Typically CARB compliance will range between 5-10K.
