This example has seen 200,450 miles, the vast majority of which are long-distance highway trips across Georgia, Florida, Alabama, and California. The mileage reflects highway use—not stop-and-go city wear—and the condition of the body, undercarriage, and mechanical components confirms it was well cared for.The powerful V8 engine starts effortlessly in any weather without needing throttle input, and the automatic transmission shifts smoothly and confidently. Recent maintenance includes a new water pump, installed by an ASE-certified mechanic who also verified the vehicle’s sound mechanical condition. While the “Service Ride Control” light remains on—a common quirk in these models—it has no bearing on performance or drivability. The previous owner covered the light with tape, and multiple mechanics agree that tracking the source can be more trouble than it’s worth unless symptoms arise (none have).Inside, the Yukon shows pride of ownership. The leather seating is original, and aside from the lower driver’s seat insert needing replacement, the interior is in remarkably preserved condition. The dash pad, carpet, headliner, and door panels all show beautifully. The climate control blows cold from front to rear, and the stereo system includes AM/FM, CD, and cassette.Rolling on a fresh set of Firestone highway radials with only 600 miles of use, this SUV is ready to cover more ground. It’s also important to note that the 2500 Series models command a premium of $2,000–$3,000 over their 1500 Series siblings for good reason—heavier-duty construction, better towing, and overall long-term durability.According to a recent article on HotCars.com (June 7, 2025), the GMT400-platform Suburbans and their GMC Yukon XL counterparts are celebrated for their rugged construction and exceptional longevity. When properly maintained, these vehicles are known to exceed hundreds of thousands of miles with minimal trouble. Their straightforward mechanical systems and wide parts availability make them not only reliable but also relatively easy and affordable to maintain. Having recently relocated to a lakefront property, he upgraded to his 19th Suburban, opting for a 4WD version better suited for the terrain. His wife, however, believes one Suburban is sufficient and sees no need for two of these substantial vehicles.
