OVERVIEWThe Defender 110 Station Wagon is the long-wheelbase multi-passenger configuration of Land Rover's definitive utility vehicle, a body-on-frame, coil-sprung platform in continuous production from 1983 through 2016 with minimal fundamental change. The TD5 five-cylinder turbodiesel, introduced in 1998, is widely regarded as one of the more reliable and tuneable engines in the Defender's production history, replacing the earlier Tdi unit with improved power output and a fully electronic management system. The Camel Trophy was Land Rover's most visible association with expedition-grade off-road competition, an annual event run from 1980 through 2000 across terrain from the Amazon to Borneo to Siberia, contested exclusively by Land Rover vehicles. The 2000 event, held in Mongolia, was the final running of the competition; this vehicle, built and dispatched in June 2000, is the same model year as those final factory entries. Camel Trophy tribute Defenders correctly finished in period ochre yellow with black undercarriage protection, period decals, roof rack, driving lights, and winch, have become a distinct collector category within the Defender market, with well-executed examples commanding premiums over standard restored Defenders. LHD export specification Defenders are uncommon among US-imported examples; this example, originally built for the German market, eliminates the right-hand-drive concern that affects the majority of UK-sourced Defenders. The 25-year EPA/DOT import exemption applied to this vehicle in 2025, the year of acquisition, and Defender values have risen sharply as that window has opened for late-1990s and early-2000s examples.
