Description
Stock #7089 It’s hard to find a truck that checks the boxes like a 100 series, and it’s easy to see why these terrific Toyotas seem to be nothing short of bulletproof. Exterior Overview The Cygnus is the epitome of a true Luxury SUV. It has true Land Cruiser prestige, which speaks to its durability, but it’s also comfortable and stylish, as any flagship Toyota should be. This 2000 is a cherry example, boasting a scant 92k miles from new. It’s finished in a classy White Pearl Tricoat (057), and is set off by Xenon headlamps, OEM rainguards, a rear hitch receiver, and 16″ Extreme-1 alloys Save for some minor paint defects and nicks, this 25 year old SUV is a looker through and through, and is fresh off a recent service here at the shop. It’s hard to find a truck that checks the boxes like a 100 series, and it’s easy to see why these terrific Toyotas seem to be nothing short of bulletproof. Get behind the wheel and experience one of the greatest Japanese Classic SUV’s firsthand! Interior Overview The cabin is spacious and this Cygnus is about the most premium option you could get off the showroom floor. Trimmed in tan leather, the seats have held up nicer than most 25 year old cowhides, and the condition of the materials as a whole are an indicator this truck was well cared for in a prior life. Even the prized third row seating is still present out back, and there’s little to scrutinize about the leather save for some stress cracks on the driver’s seat base. The Cygnus’ cabin is a safe one too, with dual SRS airbags tucked in the dash. The driver can optimize comfort behind the steering wheel with a power tilt and telescoping steering column, and both forward occupants benefit from power heated seats. Offered for sale as a Lexus in the US, it’s no surprise the Cygnus is packed with power amenities. Power windows, power rear quarter glass, electric folding side mirrors, and power locks with keyless entry work like a charm, and a massive power moonroof is at the ready if you need to maximize natural ventilation. If you prefer a more curated climate, this Cygnus boasts a desirable digital automatic climate control unit in place of the factory touch screen. Both cold A/C and hot heat pump into the cabin on command, and the sound quality from the adjacent factory audio is surprisingly good for being well over two decades old. The middle and third row seating arrangements are versatile. Both rows can stow away should you need to maximize cargo capacity, and the middle row reclines if your passengers need to catch a snooze. The headliner is clean, and it’s really hard to nitpick this interior as it was clearly cared for in Japan. Apart from a few minor carpet stains and some modified trim panels in the rear, this cockpit is in above average shape, and we’ve even retained the original owner’s manual! Mechanical Overview The 2UZ-FE under the hood is a tank, and is the perfect pairing for this heavy duty hauler. This sizable 4.7l V8 is chock full of smooth power and responsive torque, and is fresh off a recent service here at the shop. It cranks over swiftly, and settles into a tame idle. This Cygnus is also fresh off an oil and filter service, and jets up to highway speeds with ease. Driving this Cruiser is a real treat. The automatic transmission is smooth, and throws power to a fulltime 4WD system. For real sticky situations, 4WD low is handy and makes propulsion on loose surfaces easier. The U-Joints were freshly serviced at the shop to keep power transfer butter smooth. The factory height-adjustable suspension is pillow-soft and soaks up road imperfections, and we installed new front lower ball joints, rear upper control arms, and front swaybar endlinks so it would pass its state inspection with flying colors. We also rehabbed the power steering system by fully rebuilding the rack. New rack seals, inner and outer tie rods, rack boots, and bushings were installed, and we flushed the system with new power steering fluid to keep things easily maneuverable. For a large behemoth of an SUV, it’s easy to pilot around town and stops on a dime thanks to standard ABS. The aftermarket alloys are wrapped in fresh Falken tires, which should offer plenty of grip and comfort to go off the beaten path. Freshly aligned, they track straight as an arrow and this Cygnus is about as turn key as you can get! *California Residents: In order to register a Grey Market vehicle in the state of California then it will have to be made CARB compliant first.
