Stock #7230 The market loves brash and colorful trucks, with modified parts that command tons of attention. Still, there is a special place in our hearts for clean, unmodified examples, like this 2000 Surf. Exterior Overview We love creating fun and exciting 4×4’s here at Japanese Classics. The market loves brash and colorful trucks, with modified parts that command tons of attention. Still, there is a special place in our hearts for clean, unmodified examples, like this 2000 Surf. Powered by an efficient and performance-packed intercooled turbodiesel powerplant, this Millennium Silver (K73) wonder is set off by a set of OEM rainguards, a chrome license plate garnish, privacy tint, and a set of OEM rainguards. Aside from a few light dings, chips, and scuffs, the paint is in good shape and this 4×4 is fresh off a recent service. Having logged only 103k verified and documented miles on the clock, this terrific Toyota is barely broken in. Tough, safe, capable, and reliable, this unmolested Hilux would make for a durable daily driver, wicked weekend cruiser, or frugal family hauler. For those who want a Japanese Classic that is classically beautiful, fun to drive, and good on fuel, we have you covered! Interior Overview The cabin is one of the nicest in recent memory. The owner in Japan clearly cared for it, as evidenced by its condition. The dashboard lacks any cracking, fading, or distortion, and dual SRS front airbags are standard equipment. The driver benefits from a tilt-adjustable steering column, and functional electric locks, windows, and mirrors all work in typical Toyota fashion. Even the rear hatch glass powers down to supplement cabin ventilation. The digital climate control system is located in the center stack and is simple to operate. The A/C blows ice cold and the heat is piping hot for the winter months ahead. Adjacent is a Bluetooth-equipped touchscreen Panasonic radio. It belts out the tunes with clarity, and includes numerous American radio frequencies, which most JDM head units lack. The tan seats are in good nick and lack any major rips, stains or tears. The driver benefits from adjustable lumbar support while folks in the back can enjoy 4-way reclining seats. The rear seats also split fold and tumble forward to create a flat loading floor. The door cards are in good shape, as are the carpets and headliner and as a whole there is little to complain about, save for an inoperable clock, and some minor driver’s bolster wear. Mechanical Overview Under the skin, this body on frame SUV is built to last. The same can be said for the engine, a direct injected 1KD-FTV. Fresh off an oil and filter service, the 1K churns to life promptly with the twist of the key courtesy of a new 12v battery. A new engine air filter and new fuel filter were installed as part of our tune-up and the 3.0L rewards the driver with tons of torque throughout the powerband. To take care of some pesky preventative maintenance, one of our trained technicians has replaced the injector seals. The turbodiesel is linked to a stout automatic gearbox that shifts like a champ. The pilot can choose to power the rear axle or both on the fly, and a low range and center locker are on hand, should you encounter loose surfaces or rough terrain. It gets up to freeway merging speeds without breaking a sweat and slows down promptly when called upon. ABS is standard and new front brake pads and rotors will keep things that way. The long wheelbase makes for decent highway speed stability and the ride has been improved with two new rear shocks. The power steering is direct yet easy to articulate, and new front swaybar links were replaced so that this Surf could pass its VA state safety inspection. The OEM wheels are wrapped in nearly new Yokohama rubber, and this turn-key road trip ready rig only needs a new owner! *California Residents: In order to register a Grey Market vehicle in the state of California then it will have to be made CARB compliant first. CARB certifications will have to be performed within the state. Depending on the vehicle and any existing modifications will affect the pricing. Typically CARB compliance will range between 5-10K. Additional information can be found on the California Air Resources Board website.
