2001 BMW 3 Series 325Ci 2dr Convertible

Vehicle Description 2001 BMW 3 Series $16,997 2001 BMW 325Ci Convertible — Imola Red over Black Leather, 78,545 Miles Why This Car Is Special The 2001 BMW 325Ci convertible sits in a position that is only getting more interesting as time passes. The E46 generation, which ran from 1999 through 2006, is now widely regarded as the last of BMW's driver-focused 3 Series before the cars gained significant weight and complexity in the generations that followed. The Ci designation is specific to the two-door coupe and convertible body styles, and the convertible version added a fully power-operated soft top, a reinforced body structure, and a standard rollover protection system — a pair of hidden roll bars behind the rear headrests that deploy automatically if the car detects an imminent rollover. What makes this particular car worth your attention is the combination of factors that are increasingly difficult to find together. It wears Imola Red, which is a deeper, more complex shade than a simple primary red — it has warmth and depth in natural light that photographs rarely capture fully. The mileage shown on the odometer at the time of photography is 78,545, which for a 2001 model year vehicle represents a car that was used regularly but not excessively, averaging fewer than 4,000 miles per year. The undercarriage photographs confirm what those numbers suggest: a clean bottom with no evidence of structural rust or significant road damage, which is exactly what you want to see on a Florida-market car that avoided the salt and freeze-thaw cycles of northern climates. The E46 325Ci is not a future six-figure collectible. It is something arguably more useful right now: a well-sorted, rear-wheel-drive open-air car from a manufacturer that was genuinely committed to driving dynamics at that moment in its history, available at a price that makes it accessible without requiring a leap of faith. The M54 was BMW's primary naturally aspirated six-cylinder engine family for this era, used across the 3, 5, and Z3/Z4 series. It features a cast-aluminum block, dual overhead camshafts, and BMW's VANOS variable valve timing system on both the intake and exhaust camshafts — the dual-VANOS setup arrived with the M54, improving low-end torque response and part-throttle efficiency compared to the earlier M52 engine it replaced. The inline-six configuration inherently produces a very smooth power delivery with minimal vibration, which is one reason these engines have a strong ownership reputation even at higher mileages. The transmission is a 5-speed automatic with Steptronic, which allows the driver to manually select gears using the shift lever without a clutch pedal. This was BMW's answer to buyers who wanted occasional manual control without the commitment of a full manual gearbox. The unit is appropriate for the character of this car — this is a convertible built for enjoyment on open roads, and the automatic makes that experience relaxed rather than demanding. The suspension is BMW's standard E46 setup: MacPherson struts up front and a multi-link independent rear, with the Z-axle geometry that was developed specifically for the E46. This configuration provides a
