Description
Introduced as the first BMW M5 powered by a naturally aspirated V8, the E39-generation M5 is widely regarded as a benchmark for sport sedans of the era, blending a powerful 4.9-liter S62 engine, a 6-speed manual transmission, understated executive styling, and luxury-focused appointments. This 2002 example is reportedly one of approximately 200 finished from the factory in Imola Red over a Black and Imola Red leather interior. It has been tastefully upgraded with Euro-style headlamps, LED lighting, a SuperSprint cat-back exhaust system, a custom thickened M Sport steering wheel with M-color stitching, a Euro-spec center console lid with matching stitching, a BlueBus audio module, ceramic window tint, a carbon fiber rear diffuser insert, and black-finished factory 18” M double-spoke wheels. The car also benefits from extensive maintenance performed since 2022, including a resealed differential and VANOS unit, replacement valve cover and timing cover gaskets, a front crankshaft seal, spark plugs, transmission service, rear shocks, and additional preventative service. Showing approximately 109k miles, this well-maintained Imola Red M5 is now being offered for auction in Florida. Click here to view the previous PCARMARKET listing.
Visually, the E39 M5 is distinguished from the standard 5-Series by flared front and rear fenders, deeper front and rear bumper covers, Shadowline exterior trim, quad exhaust outlets, and signature side gills with integrated M badging. This example is finished in Imola Red and has been customized with black kidney grilles, Euro-spec headlamps with LED high beams, Morimoto LED fog lamps, Autobahn i3 ceramic window tint, a carbon fiber rear diffuser insert, and black-finished 18” M double-spoke wheels. The front tires were replaced in 2024, while the rear tires were replaced in 2022. The seller notes the car has been garage-kept under their ownership and that clear paint protection film has been applied to the hood, front bumper, and headlights. The CARFAX report indicates an accident involving minor-to-moderate front-end damage in 2014, and the seller states the front bumper, hood, and fenders were refinished by the previous owner.
