Chevrolet called it, “Performance – American Style.” The 2002 Chevrolet Camaro SS marked the final year of the fourth-generation Camaro, closing a chapter in the car’s storied muscle car legacy. Built on the F-body platform, the SS was the high-performance variant, developed in collaboration with SLP (Street Legal Performance) Canada. It featured a 5.7-liter LS1 V8 engine, paired with either a six-speed manual or four-speed automatic transmission as on this SS.
Camaros were assembled at GM’s Sainte Thérèse, Québec, plant, and then in nearby LaSalle, SLP installed its proprietary SS cold-air induction system fed by a special NACA duct hood it manufactured. That increased output to 325 hp. SLP then added SS trim and painted the new hood and special rear spoiler to match. Buyers could choose from coupe or convertible body styles, and factory options included T-tops, leather interior, and a Monsoon sound system.
Martin Chevrolet in Torrance, California, delivered this SS convertible in July 2002. Finished in Arctic White with a Neutral partial leather interior and matching convertible top, this millennial muscle machine has since travelled approximately 7,950 miles.
