Description
The Overview LIGHT ON ITS FEET Unveiled at the 2004 North American International Auto Show, The 612 Scaglietti was the first new model Ferrari had ever launched on American soil, and it succeeded the 456M as the marque’s four-seat grand tourer. The name honored Sergio Scaglietti, the Modenese coachbuilder whose former works produced the car’s aluminum bodywork; Ken Okuyama’s design for Pininfarina gave it scalloped flanks recalling the 375 MM built for Roberto Rossellini and Ingrid Bergman. Beneath them sat a first for any V-12 Ferrari: all-aluminum chassis construction. The 5.75L Tipo F133 F delivered 533 horsepower from behind the front axle, its six-speed transaxle mounted at the rear for a 46/54 weight distribution, with 60 mph arriving in 4.2 seconds and 199 mph available with four adults aboard. When Car and Driver gathered the four twelve-cylinder grand tourers of the moment for its August 2004 comparison, the Ferrari finished first, ahead of the Mercedes-Benz CL600, the Aston Martin DB9, and the Bentley Continental GT. The big car, the magazine wrote, “always feels light on its feet, dancing from one apex to the next.” Chassis No. 147803 According to its Monroney label on file, 147803 was delivered new through Algar Ferrari of Philadelphia on 25 May 2006, finished in Rosso Corsa over a Beige leather interior. The label records $16,411 in options within a total of $294,495, among them Daytona-style seats with piping in color, 19-inch modular wheels, Scuderia Ferrari fender shields, red brake calipers, heated front seats, a leather-upholstered rear shelf, and the yellow rev counter that centers the instrument cluster. The car presents today in excellent original condition: the paintwork deep, the multi-piece wheels free of blemish, the pleated Beige hides showing little evidence of use. The cabin’s soft-touch surfaces, a known weakness of the model, have been professionally refinished, and an Alpine head unit with wireless CarPlay was installed in 2020 (the original radio is included). A Tubi exhaust is currently installed, allowing the 5.75L V12 to speak freely. Sixteen repair orders from Ferrari of New England run from June 2006, the odometer then reading only 604 miles, through August 2025 at 12,808. The timing-belt service was performed in December 2016 at 9,645 miles, with tensioner bearings and auxiliary belts replaced at the same visit, and factory campaigns were completed as recently as last summer. The car is in for a major service as this is written, timing belts included, and the completed repair order will join the file. Its current custodian acquired the Ferrari in April 2009 at 6,000 miles and has kept it in Massachusetts ever since, the history remaining clean throughout. Now showing 13,062 miles from new, it is among the most carefully stewarded examples of its kind, a four-seat, 533-horsepower Ferrari carrying nearly two decades of single-dealer care into its next chapter.
