Any disparity in the “ride” was overshadowed by the fact I never had to deal with the suspension again. Neither AirMatic nor ABC, both of which I’ve had or currently own cars with, are easily diagnosed and repaired with the proper tools or competent service provider. Many of the issues on AirMatic systems are typically minor ones and not expensive repairs. Ignorance fuels the approach of replacing the systems as a whole. It compromises the driving experience and changes the car’s performance in negative ways. It makes me sad to see a well designed system gutted by some “well meaning” owner or mechanic because they’re too lazy or incompetent to properly troubleshoot the issue and repair it. I had a 2004 and I loved the car, and hated the car. The airmatic suspension was a complete disaster, with all of its electronic gremlins - which is why I ultimately dumped the car.
