2008 Mercedes-Benz CL-Class CL 550 2dr Coupe

Vehicle Description 2008 Mercedes-Benz CL-Class $34,997 2008 Mercedes-Benz CL550 — AMG Sport Package, 19,398 Miles, Black on Black Why This Car Is Special The 2008 Mercedes-Benz CL550 sits at the top of the W216 CL-Class generation, a car Mercedes introduced for the 2007 model year as a complete redesign of the long-running CL coupe lineage. The CL550 specifically was built around the M273 5.5-liter V8 — a naturally aspirated engine producing 382 horsepower and 391 lb-ft of torque, paired with a 7-speed 7G-TRONIC automatic transmission. That combination put the 2008 CL550 in direct competition with the BMW 6 Series and Bentley Continental GT at the time of its release, at a significantly lower sticker price than the latter. What sets this particular example apart is the mileage. The odometer reads 19,398 miles — confirmed in the dashboard photo — on a car that is now over 16 years old. That is an average of roughly 1,200 miles per year, which tells you something clear about how this car was used and stored. It was not a daily driver. The undercarriage photos confirm what low-mileage ownership looks like: the floorpans, subframes, and exhaust routing show minimal road wear, with no rust or damage visible across the multiple lift shots provided. This example also carries the AMG Sport Package, which on the W216 CL550 added the AMG front fascia with honeycomb lower grille, AMG side skirts, and AMG 19-inch 5-spoke wheels — all visible and present on this car. The AMG Sport Package was a factory option, not an aftermarket modification, and it meaningfully changes the exterior profile of the CL compared to the standard non-AMG trim. The CL-Class as a whole has an interesting place in Mercedes history. It traces its roots back to the original SEC coupes of the 1970s and 1980s — the 450 SEC, 500 SEC, and 560 SEC — cars that established the formula of taking the S-Class platform and building a lower, longer, more focused two-door coupe body around it. The W216 generation continued that tradition, and the 2008 CL550 represents the model in a mature, fully developed state. Active Body Control suspension, a system Mercedes developed and patented, was standard on this car — a hydraulic active suspension that reads road inputs through sensors and adjusts each corner individually, allowing the car to corner flat and absorb large bumps without the nose dive or body roll typical of conventional spring-and-damper setups. The C in 'CL' historically stood for Coupe Leicht in German — roughly, 'light coupe.' The name stuck through generations even as the cars became heavier and more complex, a minor irony that CL-Class owners tend to appreciate. It produces 382 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 391 lb-ft of torque at 2,800 rpm. The engine uses Mercedes' twin-spark ignition system and variable valve timing on both the intake and exhaust camshafts, which helps it generate strong mid-range torque without sacrificing top-end output. The engine bay on this car photographs cleanly across multiple shots, with no visible fluid leaks, deteriorated hoses, or
