I really would have loved to snag this but still sorting out my 2008 CL600 and would have been smothered in my sleep by my very patient and understanding wife had I brought him a second. @JohnSimpson - Mercedes leather adhesives on this era of cars leaves a LOT to be desired. My door panels have similar issues and Alex @ Legit Street Cars has documented the dash replacement on his similar vintage AMG GT. There's just no getting around it due to manufacturer issues of the time; not if? but when even if you find a perfect car. Mine has less miles than this CL65 and has always been garaged but lived in SoCal, Las Vegas and Boca Ration. This Anniversary example is one of only 40 units built! My 2005 truly has to be driven to understand why these cars were approaching $200k in those years and this car's MSRP was close to $300K. The power, handling, & quality of workmanship is exceptional. This one shows good service history as maintenance is the key to enjoying this Mercedes flagship....not cheap but it's an amazing ride! The dash can be repaired by a couple great shops in Atlanta (et areas). It's far less invasive than one might think. In the interest of helping out the community for such a special car I'll reach out to the shop I've used for a round quote. I get your perspective but if you're going to chase perfection on a nearly 20-year old car, this is a GREAT candidate. Part of me wishes I had bought this over the wagon...c'est la vie. EDIT: If the leather can be saved (I realistically think it can) it'll be $1500-$2k. If it needs new, they confirmed they can source the leather and the job will be $2750-$3k. We had not noticed it in 2.5 years until running our hands over the top of the cluster when the photographer came by to shoot the car. Or in other words, although we have been looking at the dash for the past 11k miles, it was not apparent to us. And, for what it's worth, based on everyone that has seen the car in person, I would say it is close to perfect, given the car is almost 20 years old. If perfect is = rolled off the Mercedes Assembly floor, then no. But you'd be looking at a new car (AMG not making V12s anymore for Mercedes). I would want it close to perfect, diffuser and back window are easy, wish you could get a definitive opinion front an upholstery shop that it can be repaired perfectly.
