Vehicle Description 2010 Mercedes-Benz S-Class $19,997 2010 Mercedes-Benz S550 4Matic — Dark Blue over Tan, V8, All-Wheel Drive, 84,957 Miles Why This Car Is Special The W221 generation Mercedes-Benz S-Class, produced from 2006 through 2013, is widely regarded as one of the most technologically advanced luxury sedans of its era. When it debuted, automotive journalists noted that nearly every significant safety and comfort technology that eventually trickled down to other vehicles appeared first in this car. Pre-Safe collision anticipation, Airmatic air suspension, Distronic adaptive cruise, and the dual-display instrument cluster were all part of the W221's original brief. The S-Class has historically served as Mercedes-Benz's rolling technology laboratory, and the W221 generation was particularly dense with innovation at a time when competitors were still catching up. The 2010 Mercedes-Benz S550 4Matic sits at an interesting position in the market right now. It has crossed the threshold where original MSRP depreciation is largely exhausted — these cars stickered in the neighborhood of $95,000 to over $100,000 new with options — yet it remains thoroughly modern in terms of ride quality, safety systems, and daily usability. A well-equipped S550 from this era still competes favorably with entry-level luxury sedans being sold today at a fraction of the original cost. This particular 2010 Mercedes-Benz S550 is the 4Matic all-wheel-drive variant, which is confirmed by the model designation displayed on the center console and instrument binnacle. The 4Matic system on the W221 uses a permanent all-wheel-drive setup with a 40/60 front-to-rear torque split under normal conditions, providing stability without the understeer penalty of some all-wheel-drive systems. For buyers in the Southeast or anyone who travels regularly, the added traction confidence is a meaningful real-world benefit. The odometer reads 84,957 miles — appropriate use for a 2010 model year vehicle, and well within the range where the 5.5-liter V8 is just getting settled in. It produces 382 horsepower and 391 lb-ft of torque in S550 specification. Power routes through a 7-speed 7G-Tronic automatic transmission, which Mercedes had been refining since its introduction in 2003. The combination delivers smooth, unhurried acceleration typical of a full-size luxury sedan, with enough reserve power to merge confidently at highway speed. The 7-speed gearbox is known for its seamless shifts in normal driving and can hold gears manually through steering wheel-mounted controls when the driver wants more direct engagement. The Airmatic air suspension fitted to this car is one of its most practically significant features. Rather than fixed-rate springs, Airmatic uses electronically controlled air springs and adaptive dampers that adjust continuously based on road conditions and driving mode. The system automatically lowers ride height at highway speeds to reduce drag and lifts the car for slower urban driving. The practical result is a ride that absorbs Florida road imperfections without the floaty disconnection that plagued older luxury cars on steel springs. Disc brakes at all four corners provide con
