Good-looking and unmistakably a Mercedes-Benz, with strong contour lines cut into the sides, a roofline that traces a sleek arc from the top of the sharply angled windshield down to the trunk lid and an overlarge Mercedes-Benz badge adorning the unique pin-cushion grille. The trailing edge of the CLA250 kicks up to reveal two rectangular exhaust ports. The CLA250 offers the luxury feel and quality materials expecteded from this vaunted luxury brand, despite this model sitting at the low end of the Mercedes' line-up. The gauges in particular show off classic Mercedes-Benz refinement. Perched on the dashboard is a 7-inch LCD showing Mercedes-Benz's highly refined navigation system, and Harmon Kardon speakers around the cabin emit crisp, distinct sound. The dashboard features five vents with Mercedes-Benz's retro air flow guides. The cabin tech features and the COMAND interface are carried over from the larger, more expensive models. Also included is mbrace2, M-B's telematics system that can connect to the Internet and contact emergency services if an airbag is deployed. The turbocharged 2.0L 4-cylinder is a great engine, punchy enough to reach highway speeds in short order. The sprint from standstill to 60 miles per hour takes a brisk 6.9 seconds. Power comes on in a smooth, linear fashion as the throttle pedal heads toward the floor. Gear changes from the 7-speed, dual-clutch transmission are similarly silky. The driver can put it in D and forget about it, or use the steering-wheel-mounted shift paddles whenever the desire to be more engaged takes hold. As Mercedes-Benz's new economy leader, the CLA250 features a 2-liter four cylinder engine, with direct injection and a turbocharger. Output rates at 208 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. Mated to a seven-speed automatic transmission, the CLA250 earns EPA mileage of 26 mpg city and 38 mpg highway.
