When I had first gotten the car, I had it serviced at the dealer. I have them go over all my cars top to bottom front to back a few times a year. The shop (Meenan), the owner himself had an S63 at the time. My service advisor said to take it there and have him give it a look over for my peace of mind too. If it was replaced, I would have remembered and noted it because that would not have been cheap and would have been done within 1500 miles of me buying it from MB. Perzan, the place who did the Apple CarPlay, also drove an S63 at this point. I was using my resources that had these to ensure it was in the most tip top shape. I hope this helps. I can send you pictures of it functioning now, later tonight and tomorrow morning in all 3 different times of light to prove that is it working as new, if you are interested. It works perfectly fine and crystal clear. The picture I took was just on a sunny day, and it was facing my backyard which is why it may look like that. I can send better pics if needed and can show it at night to ensure it works. Also close up pictures of the camera itself in the grille can be provided for peace of mind. Yes that is a phone cable coming out of the glovebox. It is not just for CarPlay but android auto as well. You have the option of wired and wireless both, also the ports in the armrest still work as well. The one in the glovebox is dedicated to the CarPlay/android auto setup, while the factory ones can be used if just sound is wanted.
