The M5 Competition represents the higher-specification variant of BMW's F90-generation M5, distinguished from the standard car by firmer suspension calibration, an additional 25 horsepower, and a more aggressive overall dynamic tune — all delivered within the same four-door sedan body that makes the M5 one of the most practically capable performance vehicles in its segment.Power comes from BMW's 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V8 producing 617 horsepower and 553 lb-ft of torque, paired with an 8-speed M Steptronic automatic transmission and M xDrive all-wheel drive with a selectable rear-wheel drive mode. The S63 engine's twin-scroll turbocharger configuration delivers immediate torque response across the rev range, propelling the M5 Competition from 0–60 mph in 3.1 seconds. The M Sport Exhaust sharpens the V8's exhaust note, adding presence and volume across the rev range while retaining the active valve system that allows the driver to modulate sound output between driving modes. The Executive Package adds rear-seat comfort features including heated rear seats, a rear-seat entertainment system preparation, and a gesture control sunshade — appointments that reinforce the M5's dual identity as both a performance sedan and a genuine luxury conveyance. The Driving Assistance Plus Package encompasses a suite of active safety and semi-autonomous driving technology including active lane keeping, traffic jam assist, steering and lane control assistant, and front collision warning with automatic braking — a specification that meaningfully expands the car's long-distance touring capability. The Bowers and Wilkins Diamond Surround Sound System provides reference-grade audio reproduction through a purpose-built 1,400-watt, 20-speaker installation developed specifically for the F90's cabin architecture. Live Cockpit Pro delivers a fully digital instrument cluster and iDrive infotainment display across a 12.3-inch screen spanning the full width of the dashboard. Wireless charging, heated steering wheel, M seat belts, and Aluminum Carbon interior trim complete the specification — the carbon trim element providing visual contrast against the Black Merino Leather while referencing the car's performance brief.‍
