Description
The Overview OLD-SCHOOL APPEAL When Lamborghini revealed the LP 780-4 Ultimae in July 2021, it already had a hooligan in the range. The SVJ had taken the Nürburgring production-car lap record with active aerodynamics, a towering fixed wing and suspension honed for the Nordschleife, and it looked every inch of it. For the Ultimae, Sant’Agata raised the V12 to 780 metric horsepower, ten more than the SVJ and the most any Aventador ever made, then set it within the cleaner lines and milder, Aventador S-derived suspension. It was also a farewell: the Revuelto that followed would pair a new V12 with electric motors, and the Ultimae was the last series-production flagship in which the twelve stood alone. Lamborghini built 350 coupes and 250 roadsters, and closed the book. That restraint is what makes it the gentleman’s Aventador. Driving the Roadster for evo in 2022, Richard Meaden caught it: “Clipped of the wilder, track-focused SVJ’s aggressive aero kit, there’s no ALA active aerodynamics, but this somehow lends the Ultimae more old-school appeal.” It is the more composed car to be seen in and the more powerful one to drive. ULTIMAE ROADSTER #NLA11156 Chassis NLA11156 is one of those 250 roadsters, ordered with unusual care. Built in February 2022 and delivered new in Southern California that April, it was specified through Ad Personam inside and out, and the choices lean into the Ultimae’s elegance. Balloon White, a pearl that holds the light with real depth, is framed by gloss black along the lower flanks and by exposed carbon at the splitter, the sills, the haunch intakes and the shiny-carbon C-pillars. The forged Leirion wheels, twenty inches in front and twenty-one behind, are finished in bronze, with carbon center caps and black calipers over carbon-ceramic discs. On a white car it is precisely the right call. Raise the scissor doors and the commission continues. Nero Cosmus Alcantara wraps the dash, the door panels and the carbon-shelled seats, broken by Bianco Leda leather in Y-shaped inserts. Copper thread is cross-stitched along the dash and embroidered as the Lamborghini shield on each headrest and as ULTIMAE along the seat bolster, and bronze returns through the engine-cover vents on the textured plenum. Two carbon-fiber roof panels stow in the nose. None of this good taste tames the engine. Meaden called it “a cockpit-filling cacophony that has echoes from the past, overlaid with the kind of searing response to throttle inputs that makes your palms perspire with anticipation.” The Roadster simply takes the roof out of the way. The car has covered 3,579 miles. The paint is crisp and deep, the carbon weave sharp, the bronze wheels free of curb marks, and its Carfax history reports no accidents and no damage. A Ryft exhaust system is fitted, discreet enough that the rear of the car reads as Sant’Agata drew it, and the original Lamborghini exhaust is included with the sale. It is a superb example. For the buyer who wants everything the Aventador could do without needing a big wing to prove it, no sibling makes the case with more grace.
