This 1973 Datsun 240Z was first delivered to Murray’s Datsun of Muskogee, Oklahoma and refinished between 1989 and 1991 by its previous owner of 40 years, and it was purchased by the seller in 2014. Subsequent work included repainting the exterior in blue, refreshing the black interior, and installation of a Vintage Air air-conditioning system. The car is powered by a numbers-matching 2.4L straight-six mated to a four-speed manual transmission, and equipment includes a wood-rimmed steering wheel, PerTronix ignition, dual SU carburetors, LED fog lights, 15″ Konig alloy wheels, and rear window louvers.
The exterior was reportedly refinished in blue in the early 1990s and again in its current shade of blue in 2015, at which time the windshield and various weather seals were replaced. Additional exterior features include LED fog lights, chrome bumpers with overriders, rear window louvers, tinted windows, and an automatic antenna. The seller reports imperfections in the paint, and a pair of uninstalled headlight covers are included in the sale.
Konig 15″ wheels are mounted with General Altimax HP tires measuring 195/65 up front and 205/65 out back. A steel spare wheel with a Michelin tire is located under the trunk floor, and the seller reports installation of KYB shock absorbers during current ownership.
The interior was refurbished during current ownership and features bucket seats that have been fitted with replacement foam inserts and black vinyl covers, in addition to replacement carpeting and heat insulation material throughout. A Vintage Air air-conditioning system was also fitted, and additional equipment includes a wood shift knob, a center console with cup holders, 240Z-branded floor mats, and a trunk-mounted Sony stereo in addition to the factory Blaupunkt radio.
The wood-rimmed steering wheel frames a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 7k-rpm redline, while an ammeter and gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, and fuel level are housed atop the center stack. Under 61k miles are shown on the five-digit odometer.
The 2.4-liter L24 inline-six was reportedly refurbished in the early 1990s, and included replacement of the rings and rod bearings as well as installation of an aluminum radiator. Additional modifications include dual SU carburetors, PerTronix electronic ignition components, a replacement fuse box, and a blue-finished air filter housing and valve cover.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission.
