The car was initially delivered to Towbin Jeep/Eagle of Las Vegas, Nevada, and subsequently spent time in California, where it was acquired by the seller approximately five years ago, and then relocated to North Carolina in June 2021. Services performed in 2021 included an oil change, recalibration of the speedometer and tachometer, replacement of the clutch and starter, and resurfacing of the flywheel.
The body is finished in Alfa Rosso (130) and is topped with a replacement black canvas soft top. 1991 was the first year of Pininfarina’s Series 4 redesign that brought the Spider updated body-colored bumper covers, revised rocker panel covers and mirrors, and a sculpted trunk with wrap-around taillights. A power antenna extends from the rear fender and E-code H4 Cibie lights have been installed along with a relayed harness. Cosmetic flaws include stone chips on the nose, clearcoat that has lifted from the vent in front of the windshield and from the side mirrors, an outward ding in the trunk lid, and mismatched taillights, while the Alfa Romeo script on the tail is broken and there are adjacent scratches. The windshield is cracked on the passenger side.
Silver-finished 15″ phone-dial wheels are mounted with Bridgestone Ecopia EP422 Plus tires showing 2018 date codes. Suspension work in April 2021 included replacing the upper control arms, and an alignment was also performed at that time. A toolkit, jack, and a full-size spare wheel with an older Pirelli tire are located in the trunk.
The seats were reupholstered in tan vinyl with Alcantara inserts and new foam pads in April 2019, and the interior trim is tan and black with black carpeting. The handbrake skirt and shift boot were replaced with Redline leather ones in black with red stitching and a black and red shift knob was also installed. Equipment includes air conditioning, power windows, and a Bluetooth-compatible Pioneer radio with replacement speakers and a subwoofer. The seller notes the dash has cracks and the blower fan is not operating.
An airbag steering wheel fronts a suite of Jaeger instrumentation that includes a 140-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and fuel level, coolant temperature, voltage, and oil pressure gauges. The speedometer and tachometer were repaired and recalibrated by Palo Alto Speedometer in January 2021. The six-digit odometer shows 93k miles.
The 2.0-liter inline-four was rated at 120 horsepower and 117 lb-ft of torque when new. The valves were adjusted in 2018, the throttle linkage was rebuilt and the alternator belt replaced in April 2021, and the air intake hose, starter, and intake manifold gasket were replaced in June 2021.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transmission. The clutch was replaced and the flywheel was resurfaced in June 2021. The seller notes the catalytic converter and the exhaust from the catalytic converter back have also been replaced.
Factory literature is included in an Alfa Romeo pouch, along with the maintenance documents and a window sticker that shows a total suggested retail price of $24,505.
