Description
This 1979 Ford Ranchero 500 was acquired by its current owner in California from their father-in-law in 2013, and it was subsequently refurbished and modified. Thunderbird-sourced components were fitted to the front end and the exterior was refinished in white, the interior was retrimmed with gray upholstery, and the M-block 351ci V8 was overhauled. This 1979 Ford Ranchero 500 was acquired by its current owner in California from their father-in-law in 2013, and it was subsequently refurbished and modified. Thunderbird-sourced components were fitted to the front end and the exterior was refinished in white, the interior was retrimmed with gray upholstery, and the M-block 351ci V8 was overhauled. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a three-speed automatic transmission, and additional equipment includes power steering, a lined bed, dual sport mirrors, 17″ alloy wheels, air conditioning, and an AM/FM cassette stereo.
Front-end components sourced from a Thunderbird model were fitted and the exterior was subsequently refinished in white in 2014. Blue pinstriping accents the body along with chrome trim, and the bed is coated with an application of black bedliner.
Gray-finished 17″ alloy wheels with machined lips and Ford-logo center caps are mounted with 235/55 Pirelli P Zero Nero tires. Braking is handled by power-assisted front discs, and additional equipment includes power steering.
The interior was retrimmed in August 2014 and features a gray-upholstered bench seat with a fold-down armrest. Wood appliqué trim accents the dashboard, and additional equipment includes air conditioning, a locking glove compartment, an AM/FM cassette stereo, and dual sport mirrors.
The aftermarket steering wheel frames instrumentation consisting of an 85-mph speedometer, a tachometer, a clock, an ammeter, and gauges for fuel level, coolant temperature, and oil pressure. The five-digit odometer is believed to have rolled over once and now shows 28k miles.
The M-block 351ci V8 sends power to the rear wheels through a three-speed automatic transmission. The carburetor was reportedly rebuilt in preparation for the sale, and additional service since 2018 is said to include replacement of the following:
