Additional work consisted of rebuilding the carburetor and fuel pump, reupholstery of the interior in black, changing drivetrain fluids, and installing exhaust components, weatherstripping, a dashboard cover, and taillamps.
The car is shown on-set in the photograph above and was repainted in Safari Gold under previous ownership. Work conducted by Nissan in preparation of the commercial included replacing the weatherstripping, while work performed by the seller included refreshing exterior hardware, as well as zinc plating the fuel door and door, hatch, and hood latches.
The 14″ steel wheels feature Datsun hubcaps and wear Starfire RS-C 2.0 tires. The seller states that the brake fluid was flushed under current ownership.
Interior work reportedly carried out by Nissan included media blasting the seat frames prior to a repaint in black, as well as installing foam inserts, straps, black vinyl upholstery, and a dashboard cap. The period aftermarket radio does not work.
The wood-rimmed steering wheel frames a 160-mph speedometer and an 8k-rpm tachometer. The five-digit odometer shows 80k miles.
The 2.4-liter L24 inline-six was rebuilt under current ownership, reportedly with refreshments of the carburetors, fuel pump, distributor, and radiator, as well as adjusting the valves and installing hoses, an alternator, water and oil pumps, spark plugs, wires, filters, and gaskets. Various components were zinc plated, the throttle linkage was refurbished, and engine bay stickers were reapplied. The valve cover and airbox were refurbished, and work performed by Nissan included repairing ground issues as well as performing a tune-up and adjusting the timing.
Power is routed through a four-speed manual gearbox. Additional maintenance performed by the seller included changing fluids for the transmission, clutch, and rear differential, as well as installing headers, MSA exhaust piping, and a muffler.
