This 1992 Volkswagen Jetta GL is said to have been modified by Jeffery Bynum of Bynum Builds under previous ownership including exterior and interior refurbishment, suspension updates, and the installation of a 2.8-liter VR6 and a five-speed manual transaxle. Additional equipment includes a Raceland coilover suspension, an Autotech hollow rear sway bar, a Neuspeed upper stress bar, stainless-steel brake lines, air conditioning, power-adjustable Recaro front seats, a Momo steering wheel, and an Alpine CD stereo with an aftermarket amplifier and subwoofer.
The car underwent a refurbishment approximately nine years ago said to have been performed by Bynum Builds which included removing the engine and interior before being refinished in red. Exterior features include a Rallye Golf grille and light kit, replacement black bumpers and fender flares, a chin spoiler, a sunroof, a decklid spoiler, and a single polished exhaust outlet.
Polished 16” 1552 snowflake-style wheels are mounted with Firestone Firehawk tires measuring 195/50 all around and showing 2019 date codes. Stopping power is provided by four-wheel discs featuring red-finished calipers, and a Raceland coilover suspension has been fitted along with stainless-steel brake lines, a Neuspeed upper stress bar, and an Autotech hollow rear sway bar.
The cabin features Recaro Trophy seats with power-adjustable bases which are trimmed in gray cloth with patterned center inserts. Amenities include air conditioning, a Votex center console, a manual sunroof and windows, and an Alpine CD stereo with Bluetooth paired with an aftermarket amplifier and a trunk-mounted subwoofer. The headliner and sun visors are said to have been re-covered during the refurbishment.
A Momo three-spoke steering wheel mounted on a tilt column frames Meister instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and gauges for coolant temperature and fuel level. Oil pressure and voltage gauges as well as an analog clock are mounted in the center stack. The six-digit odometer shows 11k miles.
The retrofitted 2.8-liter VR6 is said to have been installed by Bynum Builds during the car’s refurbishment. Service performed in preparation for sale is said to have included replacing the cooling hoses, installing aluminum cooling system components, and performing an oil change.
Power is sent to the front wheels through a five-speed manual transaxle.
