This 1939 Cadillac Series 61 is a Fisher-bodied coupe finished in metallic black and gray over a customized interior with saddle and brown leather upholstery. Power is provided by a 346ci L-head V8 mated to a three-speed manual transmission, and features include a single Stromberg carburetor, independent front suspension, 16″ steel wheels with wide-whitewall tires, and four-wheel hydraulic drum brakes. Braking and suspension components were refurbished in June 2014 along with repair of the temperature gauge, fuel sender, and speedometer.
The two-door coupe is finished in metallic black with dark silver fenders and features running boards, chrome bumpers, bright fender grilles, faired headlight nacelles, and a chrome winged Goddess hood ornament.
Gray 16″ steel wheels wear chrome covers and BFGoodrich Silvertown wide-whitewall tires. The suspension features unequal-length A-arms and coil springs up front as well as a Hotchkiss semi-floating rear axle with semi-elliptic leaf springs out back. Braking is handled by hydraulic drums at all four corners. Work carried out in 2014 included a brake master cylinder rebuild as well as replacement of the wheel cylinders, front and rear hoses, and rear lines. The front wheel bearings were also changed, the rear shocks repaired, and new front shock mounts fabricated.
The cabin houses aftermarket front bucket seats and a rear bench upholstered in saddle tan leather with tobaLo aLents along with matching door panels and faux-wood finishes. Replacement tan carpet covers the floors on either side of a custom center console. Additional equipment includes an AM radio, a clock, and a locking glovebox. Matching trim is featured in the trunk, which houses a spare wheel.
A banjo-spoke steering wheel sits ahead of a column shifter and frames a 110-mph horizontal-sweep speedometer as well as gauges for battery charge, oil pressure, fuel level, and coolant temperature. Approximately 69k miles are shown on the five-digit odometer.
The 346ci L-head V8 features a single Stromberg carburetor and was factory rated at 135 horsepower. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a three-speed manual transmission.
