This 1959 Volkswagen Beetle is said to have been registered to a single owner in California before being acquired by the seller in February 2012. The car is finished in blue over a white and blue interior, and power is provided by a numbers-matching 1,192cc air-cooled flat-four mated to a four-speed manual transaxle. Equipment includes 15” steel wheels, whitewall tires, chrome bumpers, and bright window trim.
The car was factory finished in Capri Blue and was repainted during prior ownership. Equipment includes chrome-finished bumpers, bright rocker moldings and window trim, a driver-side mirror, a rectangular rear window, and dual exhaust outlets.
Steel 15″ wheels wear polished hubcaps and trim rings and are mounted with Firestone Deluxe Champion whitewall tires. Stopping power is provided by manual drum brakes at all four corners.
The cabin features seats upholstered in white and blue vinyl along with a blue dashboard and white and gray door panels.
A two-spoke steering wheel frames a VDO 80-mph speedometer. The five-digit mechanical odometer shows 57k miles.
The 1,192cc air-cooled flat-four is equipped with a single downdraft carburetor. A letter from the Stiftung AutoMuseum Volkswagen indicates that the engine number 2718571 shown in the photos below corresponds with the factory engine. The 6-volt battery is said to have been replaced in 2019 and an oil change was performed in preparation for sale.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transaxle.
