This 1966 Volkswagen Transporter is a single-cab split-window pickup that was refurbished during previous ownership and acquired by the seller in September 2005 for use as a promotional vehicle. The truck is finished in purple and white over a custom purple interior and is powered by a 1,776L flat-four paired with a four-speed manual transmission. Equipment includes front disc brakes, chrome 15″ wheels, a convertible bed, and a Kenwood stereo. Maintenance in preparation for the sale included a tune-up and rebuilding the dual Kadron Solex carburetors.
The body was refinished in purple and white during previous ownership, and rust repairs were carried out prior to the repaint. Equipment includes a split windshield, sliding side windows, round side mirrors, a pass-through storage compartment, fold-down bed sides, and a diamond-plate bed floor. The window and door weatherstripping is said to have been replaced in 2017, and the bumpers were refinished in 2019. The license plate lamp is missing, and paint imperfections and rust are present on the lower nose, left rocker panel, left window frame, and right and left jack points.
Chrome 15″ steel wheels feature matching hubcaps and are wrapped in 185/65 Firestone Precision Sport tires. Disc brakes are fitted up front and a custom suspension is said to increase payload capacity. The shock absorbers were replaced in July 2017 and the front calipers and rear wheel cylinders were replaced in March 2019.
The custom interior features patterned purple fabric on the split bench seat, headliner, and door panels. Additional equipment includes a Kenwood Bluetooth stereo, a USB port, an 8-ball shift knob, a foot-shaped aLelerator pedal, and a klaxon horn. Sound insulation has been installed, and the seller states that the kick panels, steering wheel, and horn button were replaced in 2015.
The two-spoke steering wheel fronts an 80-mph speedometer, a fuel-level gauge, and an aftermarket tachometer. The five-digit odometer shows 14k miles and was installed in 2005.
The air-cooled 1,776L flat-four was reportedly installed following the seller’s acquisition of the vehicle and is said to feature big valve heads, an 009-style mechanical advance distributor, a Gene Berg linkage, and an EMPI exhaust system. The battery was replaced in 2016, service in March 2021 included a tune-up and rebuilds of the dual Kadron Solex carburetors.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transaxle.
