This 1968 Datsun 2000 Roadster is a red-over-black convertible that is powered by a 2.0-liter inline-four mated to a five-speed manual transmission. Features include a black soft top, a removable black hardtop, chrome bumpers, driving lights, and a heater, while modifications consist of dual Mikuni carburetors, a roll bar, a ceramic-coated header, 14″ Hayashi Racing wheels, and a Sony stereo. The seller acquired the car in 2002, and service since that time has reportedly included refurbishment of the drivetrain, repainting the exterior, retrimming the interior, and replacement of the soft top.
The exterior was refinished in red in 2018 according to the seller, who notes that the black soft top was replaced around 2004. Features include a removable black hardtop with porthole windows, chrome bumpers and trim, a hood scoop, driving lights, a roll bar, a left-side mirror, and a reverse light mounted under the rear bumper.
Hayashi Racing 14″ wheels with gold-finished centers and polished lips are mounted with Dayton Quadra SE tires. KYB GR-2 shocks are fitted, and the seller states that the springs were recurved in 2008. An additional set of wheels is included in the sale.
The seller states that the bucket seats covered in cloth and vinyl were reupholstered in 2004, and the dashboard was retrimmed in 2008. Equipment includes lap belts, an analog clock, a locking center console, a heater, and a Sony stereo mounted in the trunk.
The three-spoke Grant steering wheel frames a 160-mph speedometer, a tachometer with a 7k-rpm redline, and gauges for oil pressure, coolant temperature, fuel level, and amperage. The five-digit speedometer shows 19k miles.
The 2.0-liter U20 inline-four is equipped with dual Mikuni carburetors, a high-torque starter, a GM-sourced single-wire alternator, and a ceramic-coated header. The engine was reportedly refurbished by the seller in 2008, which included balancing the camshaft and replacement of the connecting rods and pistons, and additional services since 2008 include replacement of clutch master cylinder, rewiring the car, and a valve adjustment. An oil change was completed in 2021, and the removed factory carburetors and air cleaner are included in the sale.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a refurbished five-speed manual transmission.
Removed and spare parts are included in the sale, along with two sets of keys, shop manuals, and service records from current ownership.
