This 1969 Datsun 510 sedan was acquired by the seller in 2017 and has since been refurbished and modified with work including installation of a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four paired with a five-speed manual transmission and a Subaru WRX STi-sourced rear differential. The car has been refinished in white over black, and additional modifications consist of XXR 15″ wheels, adjustable coilovers, control arms, tie rods, and reinforcements from Techno Toy Tuning, Wilwood brake components with line lock, an AEM ECU, a custom wiring harness, Procam camshafts, a McKinney Motorsports intercooler, aluminum radiator, and exhaust components, a CXRacing engine cross member, a Spec clutch and flywheel, FutoFab CV axles and hood, a BRE-style front lower spoiler, Sickspeed front bucket seats, Speedhut instrumentation, and a touchscreen JBL stereo.
The body is said to have been media blasted and refinished in pearl white under current ownership. The front bumper and windshield wipers have been removed and features include a BRE-style front lower spoiler, a FutoFab hood, fender-mounted side mirrors, hood pins, a chrome rear bumper, and replacement rubber seals and weatherstripping. Work was carried out on the driver-side rear quarter panel that involved the use of filler, and the seller states an incident involving the passenger-side rear was repaired and resulted in an insurance total-loss repair claim and a salvage branded title. Inconsistent paint matching is noted, and other flaws include paint runs and chipping throughout.
Black-finished XXR 15×7″ wheels are mounted with wheel studs and wear 185/55 Toyo Proxes T1R tires. Braking is handled by four-wheel discs that feature a Wilwood big-brake kit up front with a line-lock system and a 280ZX-sourced rear disc conversion with FutoFab adapters. The suspension has been modified with front and rear adjustable coilovers, lower control arms, tie rods, tension control rods, an idler arm bearing kit, a steering box brace, and a front strut tower brace from Techno Toy Tuning of Shingle Springs, California.
The interior is fitted with Sickspeed bucket seats trimmed in black with diamond-stitched inserts joined by a matching dash, door panels, rear seating, and replacement carpets. Additional equipment includes Techno Toy Tuning front seat mounts, three-point front seat belts, Dynamat sound insulation, and a touchscreen JVC stereo with aftermarket speakers.
The three-spoke Viilante steering wheel is mounted on an NRG quick-release hub and fronts a custom woodgrain dash that houses Speedhut instrumentation consisting of a 160-mph GPS speedometer with an integrated 8k-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. An HKS EVC-S boost controller is positioned in the center of the dash, and the Speedhut fuel gauge is inaLurate and supplemented by an additional fuel gauge. The digital odometer indicates 230 miles, and total mileage is unknown.
The turbocharged 2.0-liter SR20DET inline-four was installed during the refurbishment and fitted with a McKinney Motorsports 3″ downpipe, turbocharger V-band clamp, turbocharger oil and coolant lines, intercooler and piping, and an aluminum radiator and water neck. Wiring work is said to have been carried out by Doc’s Garage, and modification performed by Marco Varga of the SR20 Store in Gardena, California, reportedly included installation of the following components:
Power is sent to the rear wheels through an S14 Silvia five-speed manual transmission and a Subaru WRX STi rear differential with 3.875:1 gears. Additional features are said to include a Spec stage 2 clutch kit and aluminum flywheel, ARP flywheel bolts, a replacement throw out bearing, a custom driveshaft, a mustache bar, stub shaft converters, and FutoFab CV axles.
