This 1970 Datsun 1600 roadster is finished in white over a red interior and powered by a 1.6-liter inline-four paired with a four-speed manual transmission. The car was acquired by the seller from Minnesota in 2020 and brought to its current home in California. Subsequent work included replacement of its convertible top, upholstery, shocks, tires, distributor, and brakes as well as installation of an aluminum radiator and an electronic ignition module.
The car is believed to have been repainted under previous ownership, and the seller notes areas of cracking in the older finish. The car features a late-style tall windshield with an integrated frame. Brightwork includes chrome bumpers with overriders, and reverse lights are mounted under the rear bumper.
Steel 14″ wheels wear chrome hubcaps and 185/70 Dean Touring Edition tires that were mounted under current ownership. Additional work reportedly included replacement of the shocks as well as servicing the braking system. The convertible top is said to have been replaced by Val’s Auto Upholstery in San Francisco, California.
The seats were also reupholstered in red vinyl, and the cockpit features matching door panels and carpets. Amenities include lap belts, a clock, a cassette stereo, and an aftermarket temperature gauge.
A stock steering wheel frames a tachometer, a 120-mph speedometer, and a combination gauge showing coolant temperature, amperage, oil pressure, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 54k miles.
The 1.6-liter inline-four was rated at 96 horsepower when new and is fed by twin SU-style carburetors. An aluminum radiator and a replacement distributor were installed under current ownership, with the latter reportedly featuring an electronic ignition module.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission. Oil, coolant changes, and transmission fluid changes were carried out in Arkansas on the way from Minnesota to California aLording to the seller.
