This 1972 Datsun 240Z was acquired by the seller in 2010 and subsequently underwent a multi-year refurbishment that was completed in 2017. Work included a repaint, overhauls of the 2.4-liter inline-six and four-speed manual transmission, and refreshment of the suspension, differential, brakes, and interior. Finished in white over black vinyl, the car is equipped with triple Weber DCOE 40 carburetors, a Stahl six-into-two header, MSD electronic ignition, 15″ Panasport wheels, adjustable coilover suspension, front and rear sway bars, and an AM/FM radio.
Originally finished in White (904), the body was disassembled and fitted with metal patch panels where necessary prior to a repaint with Glasurit 90 Line Ivory White paint by European Auto Restoration of Fennville, Michigan. The stainless steel bumpers, weatherstripping, and windshield are said to have been replaced at that time, and side mirrors from a BMW 2002 have been added. Additional features include a black rear panel and chrome window trim and door handles.
Panasport 15″ silver-painted wheels wear 205/55 Yokohama S-Drive tires showing 2012 date codes. Braking is handled by front discs and rear drums with a replacement master cylinder and lines per the seller. The suspension was fitted with adjustable Tokico shocks, polyurethane bushings, and front and rear sway bars.
The bucket seats were reupholstered with black vinyl covers and a replacement carpet kit was also installed. Details include matching door panels, a wood shift knob, a carpeted rear cargo area, and a push-button AM/FM radio.
A refurbished faux wood-rimmed steering wheel frames a 160-mph speedometer and an 8k-rpm tachometer. The five-digit odometer shows 32k miles.
The 2.4-liter inline-six was overhauled and features triple Weber DCOE 40 carburetors, an E88 cylinder head, MSD electronic ignition, a Schneider camshaft, 10:1 compression Repco pistons, and a custom exhaust with a Stahl six-into-two header. The crankshaft was refreshed and additional work is said to have included replacement of the following components:
Power is transferred to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission that was overhauled with a replacement clutch, master cylinder, and pressure plate. The rear differential was also refreshed and replacement u-joints were installed.
