This 1974.5 Datsun 260Z was purchased new by the seller at Walnut Creek Datsun of California on April 14, 1975, and was subsequently moved to Michigan and finally Arizona in 1993. A cosmetic refurbishment circa 2006 included a repaint in Daytona Blue and reupholstering the off-white vinyl seats. Power is from a 2.6-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission. Features include triple Weber carburetors, tubular headers, impact bumpers, front disc brakes, 17″ Konig wheels, Cibie driving lights, aftermarket side mirrors, lowering springs, and an Aiwa CD stereo.
The 1974.5 models were produced for four months and featured impact bumpers and grille-mounted turn signals. A 2006 refurbishment of this example included refinishing the exterior in Daytona Blue Pearl Metallic and re-chroming the rear bumper. Cibie Series 95 driving lights and aftermarket mirrors were also added.
17″ Konig Crosshairs wheels are wrapped in 215/45 Yokohama AVS ES100 tires showing 2006 date codes. Lowering springs were reportedly fitted in the 1980s and Tokico HP shocks are said to have been added in 2006. Stopping power is from front discs and rear drums.
Interior refurbishment work in 2006 included reupholstering the seats in off-white vinyl, installing a black dash cap, and replacing the rear storage area carpeting. Features include woodgrain door-panel trim, an aftermarket Aiwa AM/FM/CD stereo, and a Hella horn.
The leather-wrapped steering wheel frames a 160-mph speedometer and an 8k-rpm tachometer. An analog clock and combination gauges are located in the center of the dashboard. The five-digit odometer shows 90k miles.
The 2.6-liter inline-six is equipped with tubular headers installed in the 1980s and triple Weber carburetors, a Cannon intake manifold, a MagnaFuel fuel pressure regulator and manifold, and braided stainless steel fuel lines with AN fittings that were reportedly added in 2012. The radiator, mechanical fuel pump, battery, and spark plugs, are said to have been replaced since, and the seller reports a carburetor tune and fluid change in the spring of 2020.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission. A replacement clutch slave cylinder, aftermarket muffler, urethane bushings, and replacement differential mount insulator are said to have been fitted in 2006. The gas tank was reportedly cleaned and a dent in the tank was bumped out during the same period. A removed pair of SU carburetors is included in the sale.
The dealer invoice shows the seller’s purchase of the car for $6,916.
