This 1974 Alfa Romeo Spider is powered by a 2.0-liter twin-cam inline-four paired with a five-speed manual transmission, and it is finished in ivory with a black cloth convertible top over a black vinyl interior. The seller acquired the car out of long-term storage in California in 2015, and subsequent service is said to have included performing a tune-up, reconditioning the fuel tank, and recoring the radiator, as well as replacement of the head gasket, valves and valve guides, water pump, engine mounts, oil-pressure sender, brake master cylinder, front-end tie rods, tires, and belts for the alternator and the SPICA fuel injection. More recently the seller had the car repainted, the wheels powdercoated, and custom seatbelts installed, added a MagnaFlow stainless-steel exhaust system and Carello headlight covers, and also replaced the starter, thermostatic actuator, heater valve, and hood- and trunk-release cables.
The seller had the car repainted in a shade of ivory, and a code on the trunk lid affirms Avorio (103) to have been the vehicle’s original color. Carello headlight covers have been added, and a stylized Alfa Romeo Visconti serpent decal adorns the driver-side front fender.
Turbina 14″ alloy wheels are mounted with Falken 185/70 tires that were replaced under current ownership. A full-size spare with a Michelin tire resides in the trunk along with a factory tool kit and jack.
Reclining bucket seats are upholstered in black vinyl with matching carpets and trim, and the driver’s seat-cushion upholstery has been replaced. A RetroSound radio is mounted in the dash. The sun visors are not installed but are included with the car.
A wood-rimmed steering wheel fronts a suite of Jaeger instruments including a 140-mph speedometer, an 8k-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 41k miles.
The 1,962L twin-cam inline-four is equipped with SPICA mechanical fuel injection and was factory rated at 129 horsepower. Upon the car’s recommissioning in 2015, the following work is said to have been performed:
Major tune-up
Valves and valve guides replaced
Cylinder-head gasket replaced
Compression checked (160 psi in all four cylinders)
Alternator belt replaced
SPICA pump belt replaced
Water pump replaced
Engine mounts replaced
Fluids changed
Radiator recored, pressure cap replaced
Battery and clamps replaced
Brake master cylinder replaced
Oil-pressure sender replaced
Fuel-level sender replaced
Fuel lines replaced
Fuel tank removed and reconditioned
Clutch slave cylinder and hose replaced
Front-end tie rods replaced
More recently the seller replaced the starter, fan, thermostatic actuator, heater valve, and hood- and trunk-release cables. An oil change was performed about 1,300 miles ago.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transmission. The car has an oil-pan guard installed, and the seller added a MagnaFlow stainless-steel exhaust system. Fluid seepage is noted from the transmission, and the seller reports adding a quart of fluid every 700 miles.
