This 1977 Datsun 280Z is said to have been sold new by Datsun of Tacoma in Washington and was acquired by the seller from its original owner in 2017. The car is powered by a 2.8-liter L28 inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission and has been refinished in gray over a black interior. Modifications include a fiberglass front bumper, a front air dam, fender mirrors, a rear spoiler, a muffler with stacked twin tips, staggered-offset 15″ Work Equip wheels, and four-wheel disc brakes. Service in April 2021 included fitting triple Weber carburetors, valve adjustments, and replacement of the exhaust system, water pump, flywheel, and clutch assembly.
The rear bumper, side mirrors, and side trim were removed, and their mounting points were filled and smoothed. The car was refinished in gray and features a front air dam, a fiberglass front bumper, fender-mounted mirrors, a rear spoiler, and a vertically stacked twin-tip exhaust.
Staggered-offset 15″ Work Equip wheels are mounted with Yokohama 215/60 Yokohama Avid Touring-S tires. Braking power comes from Wilwood disc brakes up front, while a disc brake conversion from Z Car Depot was performed at the rear.
The interior features high-back bucket seats with black upholstery, and black carpeting on the floors. The car is equipped with a short shifter and rear cargo area luggage straps. The seller states that a leak from the heater core was recently repaired, and the speakers are not connected to the Pioneer stereo head unit.
A wood-rimmed Nardi steering wheel frames a 10-to-160-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 6,400-rpm redline. Secondary gauges are centrally-mounted on the dashboard. The five-digit odometer shows 35k miles.
The 2.8-liter L28 inline-six was fitted with triple Weber carburetors in April 2021. Additional work at that time is said to have included tuning the carburetors, removing the fuel-return line and other EFI components, mounting a choke control in the cockpit, changing the oil, and adjusting the valves, as well as fitting stainless-steel headers, a ZStory muffler, a Champion radiator, a stainless-steel throttle linkage, coolant hoses, a water pump, a thermostat, and a rear main seal.
Power is transferred to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission. The seller states that a Fidanza lightweight flywheel was installed in April 2021 along with a Centerforce clutch assembly. The transmission fluid was changed at that time and the front and rear seals were replaced.
