This 1992 BMW 525i Touring is a right-hand drive Japanese-market example that is finished in black over dark gray cloth and powered by a 3.2-liter S52 inline-six paired with a five-speed manual transmission. Features include an AC Schnitzer bodykit, 17″ AC Schnitzer wheels, Broadway Suspension coilovers, a limited-slip differential, TRM Tuning engine-management software, Recaro front bucket seats, and a dual-pane sunroof. The car was imported to the US in 2017 and was acquired by the seller in Arizona in 2019. It was reportedly sold on to another party in early 2018, and subsequently re-acquired by the seller later that same year. Work during the seller’s ownership has reportedly included installation of the resealed E36 M3-sourced powertrain as well as replacement of the clutch components, radiator, and air-conditioning compressor, servicing of the sunroof, and an exterior repaint.
The car was finished from the factory in Diamond Black (181) and was repainted by the seller during his first term of ownership. Features include integrated front fog lights, clear front turn signals, black-finished window trim, aftermarket tail lights, and an AC Schnitzer front air dam, rocker panels, and rear valence. The Carfax report lists damage oLurring to the front in September 2018, although no further details are given.
Ronal-made 17″ AC Schnitzer wheels with polished lips wear Falken Azenis tires, and a factory spare wheel is stored beneath the cargo area floor. The seller notes that a crack in the inner barrel of the right-rear wheel was repaired two years ago. The suspension has been modified with Broadway Suspension coilovers.
The interior features front Recaro bucket seats upholstered in dark gray cloth with patterned inserts, and factory seats trimmed in anthracite cloth are retained for the rear passengers. Appointments include power windows, dual-zone climate control, and an aftermarket Kenwood stereo. Wear is noted on the front seats, and the seller states that he has replaced the rear hatch struts, fitted a suede headliner and pillar trim, and serviced the double-pane sunroof.
The three-spoke Nardi steering wheel fronts instrumentation that includes a 260-km/h speedometer and a 7k-rpm tachometer with an integrated fuel economy gauge. The digital odometer indicates just over 119k kilometers (~74k miles).
The 3.2-liter S52 inline-six was sourced from an E36 M3 and installed in 2019, and at that time the rear main seal, exhaust and intake manifold gaskets, valve cover gasket, oil pan and oil filter housing gaskets, intake boot, crankcase ventilation hoses, alternator, radiator, and air-conditioning compressor are also said to have been replaced. TRM Tuning engine-management software has also been installed, and the engine oil was changed in March 2021.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a replacement five-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential with 3.23:1 gearing. The transmission fluid, differential fluid, and differential gasket were reportedly changed during current ownership along with the clutch components.
