1936 Cord 810

Vehicle Description 1936 Cord 810 $69,000 "Gateway Classic Cars is proud to present this 1936 Cord 810, one of the most revolutionary American automobiles ever produced. Introduced to the world at the 1935 New York Auto Show, the Cord 810 stopped crowds in their tracks with styling that looked decades ahead of its time. Built under the vision of E.L. Cord, the 810 abandoned the traditional upright grille and exposed headlights found on nearly every car of the era in favor of sleek ""coffin nose"" styling, hidden headlights, flowing pontoon fenders, and a streamlined silhouette that would influence automotive design for years to come. It was a bold statement that proved American engineering and artistry could rival anything in the world. Even standing still, this Cord appears to be in motion. Finished in an elegant Grey exterior, the body showcases the unmistakable curves that have made the 810 one of the most recognizable classics ever built. From the smooth waterfall grille stretching across the front of the car to the sculpted front fenders that gracefully blend into the sweeping body lines, every angle reveals another detail worth admiring. The paint complements the car's Art Deco styling beautifully, while the contrasting Blue interior provides a sophisticated cabin that feels every bit as distinctive as the exterior. Powering this automotive masterpiece is the legendary rebuilt Lycoming 288.6 CID Flathead V8, with approximately 5,000 miles since the rebuild. The engine is paired with a rebuilt 4-speed manual transmission showing roughly 1,000 miles since its restoration. One of the most fascinating aspects of driving a Cord 810 is its innovative pre-selector transmission. Rather than timing the clutch during shifts like a conventional manual, the driver simply selects the next gear and depresses the clutch when ready, making for a remarkably unique driving experience that was years ahead of its time and remains a conversation piece among enthusiasts today. The Cord 810 wasn't simply designed to be different-it was engineered to redefine what an American luxury automobile could be. Its front-wheel-drive layout, independent front suspension, concealed headlights operated by hand cranks, and aerodynamic design made it one of the most advanced production cars of the 1930s. These groundbreaking innovations, combined with its unmistakable styling, earned the 810 a permanent place in automotive history and continue to make it one of the most sought-after pre-war collector cars. Whether admired as rolling sculpture, appreciated for its engineering achievements, or enjoyed on the open road, this 1936 Cord 810 represents an opportunity to own one of the most iconic automobiles ever produced. Its graceful lines, innovative mechanical design, and unmistakable presence ensure it draws attention and admiration wherever it travels.
