Description
This Chrysler is one of 849 Town & Country nine-passenger “barrel-back” station wagons produced for the shortened 1942 model year, and it was purchased by the current owner circa 1996. The car is finished in black with ash and mahogany body panels, and power comes from a 250.6ci L-head inline-six mated to a column-shifted Vacamatic Fluid Drive four-speed semi-automatic transmission. Additional features include four-wheel hydraulic drum brakes, coil-sprung independent front suspension, red-painted 16” wheels, curved clamshell rear cargo doors, fender skirts, a roof-mounted luggage rack, dual spotlights, and yellow-lens driving lamps. Inside, the cabin was retrimmed in burgundy leather approximately 10 years ago, and amenities include a heater, a push-button AM radio, a fold-away second-row bench, and an adjustable third-row bench with fixed armrests. This C-34 Town & Country is now offered by the seller on behalf of the current owner as part of the John C. Mesloh Collection with transferable New York registration. The Chrysler lineup was updated for 1942 with a five-bar horizontal grille, a single-piece hood, and headlights inset in the fenders. The model year began in August 1941 and ended when Chrysler shifted to wartime production in January 1942. This example features steel body panels finished in black, while the wooden bodywork utilizes white ash framing and Honduran mahogany paneling. Additional equipment includes yellow-lens driving lamps, swan-neck side-view mirrors, dual spotlights, a roof-mounted wood-slat luggage rack, fender skirts, triple rear bumper overriders, a chrome Town & Country-branded downturned exhaust tip, and centrally latching curved cargo doors integrated into the fastback-style rear contour.
