Description
This 1949 Rolls-Royce Silver Wraith features four-door Touring Limousine design no. 8098 “Teviot” coachwork by Hooper & Co. and was sold new to its original owner in Baltimore, Maryland, via Hoffman Motors of New York. Chassis WDC61 remained with its original owners until 1972 and subsequently spent time with various collectors in North Carolina through the late 1980s, during which time the body was refinished in black and burgundy. It joined the Vehicle Vault Collection outside of Denver, Colorado, in 2014 and subsequently underwent an engine rebuild that included installation of a replacement block in 2016. The 4.3L F-head inline-six is equipped with a single Stromberg downdraft carburetor and mated to a four-speed manual transmission. Red leather trims the chauffeur’s and passenger’s compartments, which are split by a power-operated glass partition. Further appointments include a Webasto vinyl sunroof, a retrofitted air conditioning setup, and stowable rear footrests as well as a center-mounted driving light, servo-assisted drum brakes, rear wheel spats, and 17” steel wheels with covers. Acquired by the selling dealer in 2026, this Silver Wraith four-door limousine is now offered at no reserve with a copy of its chassis specification sheet, a collection of records, and a clean Michigan title. The four-door Touring Limousine bodywork was crafted by Hooper & Co. of Westminster, England, and is believed to have been refinished in its current black and burgundy paint scheme in the 1980s. Exterior equipment includes a Spirit of Ecstasy ornament, a Webasto vinyl sunroof, a center-mounted driving light, Lucas P100 headlights, fender-mounted side mirrors, semaphore turn signals, and rear wheel spats as well as a chrome grille surround, trim, and bumpers. The selling dealer notes various paint chips and other imperfections around the car.
