1960 Willys Station Wagon

1960 Willys Station Wagon Maverick Special F-4 134 Wagon Offered here is a charming and increasingly rare example of postwar American ingenuity: a 1960 Willys Maverick Special Station Wagon. With its distinct Green and White two-tone exterior and authentic vintage presence, this survivor stands as one of only 2,566 Maverick Specials produced in the 1960 model year—making it a collectible piece of Willys history. Celebrated for being the first mass-market all-steel station wagon ever designed and built as a true passenger vehicle, this Willys is more than just a classic—it's a milestone. Powering this rugged yet refined wagon is the factory 134 CID “Hurricane” F4 four-cylinder engine, known for its simplicity and reliability. The engine is paired with a column-shifted Borg-Warner three-speed manual transmission, delivering a period-correct driving experience that connects you directly with the road. Underneath, the Dana 23 rear axle provides durability and strength, supporting the vehicle's reputation for go-anywhere dependability. Notably, this Willys was one of the first of its kind to feature independent front suspension, setting it apart from earlier truck-based designs and contributing to a smoother ride for passengers. The exterior of the Maverick Special presents in overall great condition. The paint is bright and glossy, with only minor imperfections that add character to an otherwise clean and straight body. This example features sliding glass panes on both sides, a one-piece windshield, and full tailgate glass in the rear, giving it a wide, panoramic feel and enhancing rearward visibility. Period-correct whitewall tires complement the steel wheels, completing the wagon's iconic vintage look. Inside, the utilitarian yet attractive interior is configured with a split front bench and two separate benches in the rear, offering a surprising amount of space for up to eight passengers. The green metal dashboard is fitted with full instrumentation, and the two-tone door panels mirror the vibrant styling of the exterior. The cabin features a standard AM radio for a touch of mid-century entertainment, and the vehicle has been converted to a modern 12V charging system to better accommodate today's electrical needs. Whether you're seeking a unique weekend cruiser, an eye-catching addition to a vintage collection, or a nostalgic nod to simpler times, this 1960 Willys Station Wagon Maverick Special is sure to impress. With its limited production numbers, charming aesthetics, and well-preserved condition, it offers a rare opportunity to own one of the more distinctive vehicles from the early crossover era. Ready to be driven, displayed, and enjoyed, this Willys is the perfect blend of style, function, and historic Americana.
