Description
This 1966 Ford Mustang convertible was originally equipped with a six-cylinder engine and was converted to the 289ci V8 as part of a long-term build that began with parts acquisition in 2006–2009 and engine work completed during the following years. The engine was rebuilt with cylinder-head and short-block work, and a FiTech electronic fuel-injection system, power steering, power-assisted front disc brakes, and a rebuilt front suspension were added. The rear axle and transmission were also rebuilt, with a 3.55:1 gearset installed in the Ford 8″ rear end. Refinished in Candyapple Red over color-coordinated vinyl, the Mustang features a white convertible soft top, 15″ styled wheels, chrome bumpers, front bucket seats, and a GT-style rear valance. Owned for ~two decades by the seller, this Mustang is now offered with records and transferable New York registration. The body and paint work were completed in 2016, including a full repaint and replacement of the chrome trim. The soft top has also been replaced. Additional work included replacement of the taillight lenses, bezels, gaskets, and mounting hardware, as well as the antenna and convertible-top hold-downs. A GT-style rear valance was added along with rocker moldings, and an area of bubbling paint is pictured in the gallery.
