1967 Pontiac Grand Prix 428HO

Vehicle Description 1967 Pontiac Grand Prix $84,900 Introduced in 1962, the Pontiac Grand Prix quickly established itself as a performance-oriented luxury coupe, blending full-size comfort with unmistakable Pontiac muscle. By 1967, the Grand Prix had evolved into one of the most refined personal luxury cars of the era, and for that model year Pontiac offered a convertible body style for one year only, making the 1967 Grand Prix convertible a true standalone chapter in the model's history and among the most sought-after examples today. This extraordinary Grand Prix was built and delivered new in July 1967 as a very late-production, special equipment factory order, a distinction that immediately sets it apart. Finished in Code C-1 Cameo White with a White power convertible top, it is accented by a striking red body-side sport stripe and complemented by Trim Code 585 Parchment White Strato-Bucket seat interior, creating a timeless and elegant presentation. According to the Zone and Dealer codes listed on the original broadcast build sheet, this example was sold as a Pontiac Motor Division Factory Company Car, suggesting it was likely delivered to a high-ranking individual or utilized for promotional purposes during the summer of 1967-an origin consistent with its exceptional specification. As expected of a factory company car, this Grand Prix was equipped with virtually every available option and the most desirable powertrain offered. Under the hood resides its numbers-matching 428ci High-Output V8, one of Pontiac's most formidable engines, paired with a Turbo-Hydramatic automatic transmission. Additional performance and drivability features include power steering, Ride and Handling Package, and first-year power front disc brakes, along with heavy-duty 15-inch wheels fitted with full wheel covers and red stripe tires. Luxury and convenience options are equally comprehensive, highlighted by Custom Air Conditioning, Custom Gauge Cluster with electric clock, power windows with power vent glass, power door locks, remote trunk release, power driver's seat, tilt steering column with Sports Steering Wheel, cruise control, and remote outside mirror. Entertainment and comfort are enhanced by an AM/FM Stereo radio with power antenna, all tinted glass, passenger vanity mirror, custom seat belts, and interior floor mats, reflecting the Grand Prix's position at the top of Pontiac's lineup. Production numbers further underscore the significance of this car. Only 5,856 Grand Prix convertibles were manufactured for 1967, making the model inherently rare. More remarkably, just 1,045 Pontiac vehicles across the entire 1967 production year were equipped with the 428ci High-Output engine, placing this example in an exceptionally exclusive category. When combined with its convertible configuration, late-production status, factory company car history, and near-maximum option load, this Grand Prix is very likely a one-of-one automobile. The car is accompanied by an impressive and well-preserved documentation portfolio, including traceable history dating back to 1973, complete Pontiac Historical Services (PHS) documentation with broadcast sheet, a 1967 Pontiac dealership brochure, owner's manual, convertible top operation manual, reproduction window sticker, and post-restoration photographs. It was prominently featured as the cover story of the May 1997 Smoke Signals POCI magazine and later recognized in 2012 with POCI Class EE – Outstanding honors, further validating its authenticity, quality, and historical importance. This 1967 Pontiac Grand Prix convertible represents a rare convergence of exclusivity, factory documentation, elite performance, and luxury-an irreplaceable example of Pontiac's golden era and a centerpiece-level addition to any serious Pontiac or GM collection.
