1971 Lotus Europa

Merit Cars presents A 1971 Lotus Europa S2 Type 65 that presents an interesting opportunity for the Lotus enthusiast looking for a restoration project. And there is something particularly noteworthy about this car: in our history at Merit Cars, this is the first Lotus Europa we have purchased that actually runs and drives! Finished in yellow with a black interior, this is a mostly complete example with 52,320 miles showing on the odometer. The car appears to have been standing for a long time, and its overall condition reflects the need for restoration. The paint and interior show their age, but the body appears to be well preserved. Mechanically, the car has an important advantage for a project of this kind. It is equipped with the correct Renault 1,565 cc engine, which starts and runs well. The transmission and brakes are in working order, and the car runs and drives. The underside appears clean and solid, making this an encouraging starting point for someone looking to bring a distinctive Lotus Europa back to life. This is not a finished or turn-key Europa. It is a restoration project, but one that offers a significant head start: an apparently well-preserved body, a mostly complete car, and an engine that starts and runs. A rare opportunity to take on a classic mid-engined Lotus and complete the restoration to your own standards. Asking Price: $12,950
